Hero (SB): $25.65
BB: $16.72
BTN: $53.97

Pre Flop: ($0.50) Hero is SB with T Diamond T Spade
BTN raises to $0.75, Hero calls $0.65, BB calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.40) 7 Spade 9 Club 8 Heart (3 players)
Hero bets $1.50, BB folds, BTN calls $1.50

Turn: ($5.40) K Club (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: ($5.40) J Club (2 players)
Hero?

40% BTN open , non-standard reg. What's important is on the turn he has a bunch of Tx floats and 8x,7x turned flush draws.

This is an old hand and turn should be a lead, but point is on this river I don't like anything.

Check and he bets flushes + Tx which we only split with.

Bet small and he'll raise flushes + Tx.

Can you think of the best way to play the river?

priced in to call probably up to 2/3 pot given the proportion of Tx in his range. But we don't know this for sure - could be -EV too.

i hate bet small and fold to a huge raise myself
if you bet small it looks like a bluff so he could be re popping

how about check call - he no doubt value bets if you check so the call will not cost you that much
how about pot bet and fold if he jams - you are polarising your hand by doing so. He wont re jam bluff so you can fold if he does raise a pot size bet and he will call with 2 pair and trips. etc etc

what flush does he have exactly - Ace Ten or Queen Ten - thats a slim range to be folding a straight especially as you have a ten.

i would re raise pre flop too - then you can disregard Queen Ten and hopefully Ace Ten

Do we really think villain raises just a naked Tx vs a river lead?

I would barrel the K turn for value i dont understand why you are checking there, you have the best hand a lot of the time and if you dont at least you have outs and your decisions are much easier if you bet, If he raises you fold and we play perfectly, easy game.

I agree with the previous posts. Bet 3/4 and just fold to any raise, calling would not be a profitable situation. This might even be a split pot. I'm not sure if barreling the King turn is a good idea, villain might not fold his pair plus straight draw.....

as played I prob c/c, cant imagine villain calling worse but he can definitely bluff worse

If we barrel the turn King, do we think villain is going to fold his pair plus straight draw? I understand an Ace or a King is a good turn card to bluff, but this board texture probably connects well with villains button range. He might just call the turn bet chasing....

Whats wrong with him calling the turn putting more money in behind?
Also if you think about his entire flop calling range, the king only improved his hand if he has KT, K9, and KJ if hes a giant station. Its pretty unlikely he has K8 or K7 and even less likely he peels with those hands. So we get value from hands like 67, 68, 8T, 9T, AT, A9, and so forth.
On another note, by checking we virtually never have a nutted hand ie. TJ, sets, 2p, etc. because if we donked out with those hands we're probably barreling turn. By checking we open ourselves into potentially tougher spots. What are you going to do when he bets turn and bets this river?

I just think you're crushing the range of hands you are hoping to get paid off by, since he'll have a lot of weak- to medium - strength 1 pair hands that call a small river bet. Like 9x, Jx, Kx, pocket pairs, that call for 1/2 pot here, and fold to bigger bets, this board is really likely to hit him somehow, and to have hit you harder. And you have the nut blocker cards.
