Edit: Also, any time you use the word "assume" in a justification for a line, you kill a puppy. Good lines are based on logic. Logic is based on knowledge. Assumptions are the opposite of knowledge.

Im sorry but that is just not true. Untill I have a firm read or stats to back it up I only have assumptions. Good poker is based on ranges and assumptions.

Btw thanks for all the responses I think it made for some good discussion.

Folding Pre > Call pre and donk any flop > 3-betting pre, IMO.

Calling and donking any flop sounds like the worst possible line imo. What is your reasoning for wanting to take that line over 3betting?

The points I made earlier are about the assumptions. People don't like to fold at lower microstakes, especially to 3b in position I find, and especially if they may appear to be loose passive in any way.

You're reasoning above initally was only that people open a wide range from the CO? What range? Assuming people will fold to a lot of 3bets doesn't hold for this stake imo, which is why I brought up the video series. At 100nl it isn't as bad to assume people will fold to 3bets from blinds as the player pool in general at 100nl will fold vs 3bet more often. It looks like you went from the video series and applied the concept to all players.

To correct a comment above there is a mathematical reason to 3 bet bluff at certain points from the blinds, although I can't summarise it well myself yet still being new to GTO and not a math lover. low microstakes is the least likely place. I'm beginning to think it's a waste of the time out of the blinds at the stakes I play without a very reliable read. Don't see many folds or 4bets from the button vs. 3bet.

Problem with calling is that you don't have any idea about villain's postflop tendencies, and you will miss the flop 2/3 of the time.

The problem with 3-betting is you're putting more money in the pot when you have a crappy hand, don't know if he'll fold, don't have any idea about villain's postflop tendencies, and you will miss the flop 2/3 of the time. I would 3-bet this hand in some circumstances but I'd probably want to see that the guy was a bit fit or foldy or whatever to make me think that it was more +EV than just folding.

Honestly I'd fold pre and give up post. He thinks you have AK and checked because you missed the flop. He's completely right except that your hand is a bit worse than he expects. He's calling all the way down anyway.
