Villain 28/13/Afq76 (106hands)
Only info was from maybe 20 hands before when villain barelled turn and river OOP with air when (as PFRer) I checked behind on the flop.
I will admit, I was not concentrating here, as you can see from my bet sizing.
What is the correct play here? b/f? x/c? c/f?
also, going by villains original stack size, should I have used bet sizing to set up a river shove?

What range do you give villain when he calls you pre-flop? How about when he calls your flop bet? How about your turn bet? When you know this, you've got a range for villain at the river and can make a better informed decision depending on what parts of his range you're trying to target to get max value.

ok calling pre, villain has a wide range... broadways/Ax/PPs/suited connectors + some random crap (Depending on villain thinking about me being UTG)
On the flop, villain has high Afq so hes raising TP/2pair/sets, also unlikely slow playing with broadway suited flop.
On the turn, villain is prob calling with draws and maybe PPs/2nd Ps that wont fold.
So, on the river I think we're facing busted draws, 2nd Pairs/ worse PPs and prob only thing to fear is some random 4x hand, maybe A4/45s.
My instinct here says it would be a ck call against that range. I have seen villain bluff before so if i check he could have some bluffs in his range. He is folding to a bet with busted draws anyway. Hands that are beating me are in his range but not massive part.
How much of this is reasonable? Where am Í thinking wrong?

i'd just shove given stack size. can't really do much else. you can maybe c/c and induce something if you think he's a spaz. b/f is out of the question given stacks.
so given your history, maybe checking could be good. i'd pretty much never fold though.

tbh I think I put myself in this awkward spot with betsizing

Based on your analysis through the hand, I think bet/folding is out of the question because stack sizes are awkward. So, you can either shove yourself, which would be small overbet or you can check/call if you think villain is likely to have more missed draws that will bluff in his hand than worse made hands that will call.
I think you may be over estimating villain's aggression with top pair hands a bit, so I may think he has some of those in his range by the river. Without trying to do the math, I think there is more value in shoving than trying to pick off a bluff with a check/call.
And agreed, paying a bit more attention to effective stacks and bet sizing will make it easier to set up a shove on the river.
