this guy was 30/4 over several hands and i had never seen him do this before. Unsure what to do here. my thoughts were that if he had the nuts there would be no way you could do this due to the amount of time people would just fold. so i put him on a set of 77's or something, but nothing really made sense. What would you guys do?
Also does the fact we are so deep make a difference, to what you would do?

Cbet the flop for a start
As played don't raise so big when he overbets but its probably not a big deal either way but you probably get less folds (if you ever get a fold) with raising it to like 10 then shoving river.

Flop c/call is horrible especially so deep.

Unless he just randomly spazzes postflop I think he has T9 a lot here tbh.

Never noticed the 7 made the straight.
I take it this guy is really passive but I can just snap give him credit for a straight as he can have worse sets he may play like this.
Without a good read you can't really fold here. calling and hoping to boat up is probably a good idea and maybe folding on some spade or 9,T.
There is always enough of chance this guy can spazz out here to never be folding and just getting it in.
How many hands is this over and do you have and reads?

60 hands and he had been very passive, folding to 90% of c-bets, and that was the reason for the check. yeah he had the 9T. i totally messed that up. anyway live and you learn. thanks for the replies.

If the flop was drier like J82r, I would like your check more. When a 30/4 fish calls preflop they will be playing all broadways (he may not even 3 bet something like AQ), high suited connectors & gappers which will call a bet on this flop, as for the rest of his junky hands he's folding regardless of whether you bet flop or turn. He seems passive, so there's no reason to think that your check will induce a bluff; even if he did bet top pair, fish suck at value betting so you would still win a bigger pot from betting yourself.

Bet the flop, seriously just bet the flop. As played check raise the flop is completely 100% mandatory.

Then as played again, you really messed up the flop I think you have to call now and see what happens. But really just bet the flop or check raise it!!!
