I have a small read on villain is that he is fairly tight and doesnt often bluff, but I only have 130 hands on him, he is running 22/6 over that sample, so I think he is fairly tight and passive, so when he shoved here, I think he has something like a slow played paint pair of some sort..

UTG: $39.02
CO: $19.78
BTN: $25.66
SB: $23.47
Hero (BB): $47.83

Pre Flop: ($0.30) Hero is BB with 5 Diamond 2 Diamond
2 folds, BTN calls $0.20, SB calls $0.10, Hero checks

Flop: ($0.60) K Heart J Club A Diamond (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($0.60) K Diamond (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN bets $0.60, SB folds, Hero calls $0.60

River: ($1.80) T Diamond (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.80, Hero raises to $3.60, BTN raises to $24.86, Hero ?

ie Try not to draw to a 5-high flush on a paired board with one card to come against a tight player.

THIS! you hit your hand, albeit its a very weak made hand compared to the board, so if you really have to call the turn im NEVER raising this river with a 5 high flush...

I would certainly raise the river. A straight will pay you off here very often, and him showing up with a monster is kinda rare. After you get 3bet on the river it's a trivial fold.

This!

These kinda hands cost me soooo much money and grief in my poker career until I finally figured out that no one EVER has a worse flush/straight here. don't be "that guy" (the guy I was)

As trivial as it may seem, we still need to learn to make these folds because a penny saved (when saving is correct) is a penny earned... please keep posting hands Acomb, because I'm making mistakes too (we all are to some degree, although I am much more than others) and at least you have the gall to post your hands and get good feedback from the DC community ... holy run-on sentence batman!

well, thankfully, I folded the river, but only after tanking and timebanking way down to zero.. initially I just wanted to snap call straight away, but resisted the urge and decided to work through the hand logically, I decided I am beat so so much here that it was a fold in the end.

Oh Hai, post your trouble hands! nobody will judge you for your mistakes, some will be snappy and short, but others will give you great insights, and the positive's gained are way more important!

Acomb, thanks for the advice. I decided to join DC because of this situation at an 8-handed cash homegame where I rivered the broadway straight on a paired board. So anyway, this weak-tight nitty player (a regular at our homegames) on my left min-raised my big river bet... I tanked and called because I used to be "that guy," as Sugar Nut puts it. She had the nut boat, but I probably didn't even need to tell you that because her min-raise did. I lied and told everyone it was boat over boat as I mucked my hand. Then I drove back home broke and signed up for Deuces Cracked.

I'm trying to think logically and reply to the community's hands @ uNL, imagining what I would do and asking the questions I would ask myself. Maybe after I get less anxious/angsty about it, I'll post some of my own trouble zones...
