So this just happened to me twice within 3 hands on the same table, against 2 different villains.
I usually always try to setmine using the 20x rule.
10NL full ring.
Hero limps UTG with 9
9
(maybe this was outright a bad move?)
Folds to BTN
BTN (VP22/PFR0) limps
SB (32/32) raises 4x BB
BB folds, Hero calls, BTN folds
Flops Q59 all
Villain checks, Hero makes pot bet, villain calls.
Turns J
Villain checks, Hero makes pot bet, villain calls.
Rivers 2
Villain makes 50% pot bet, Hero calls for roughly 2/3 of remaining stack.
Villain wins A high flush.
The second hand:
Villain (21/21) raises UTG to 4x
Hero/CO calls 3
3
BTN (100/25) calls
Flops 5K3 all
UTG bets 75% pot, Hero calls, BTN calls
Turns 7
UTG bets 50% pot, Hero calls, BTN calls
Rivers J
UTG bets 33% pot, Hero calls, BTN calls
UTG wins A high flush.
On the second hand I saw I flopped a set AGAIN with a suited flop AGAIN, and immediately my gut just sank. Maybe I was tilting or something but there was no way I thought that would happen again.
I was ready to fold if I saw the board 4 to a flush, but obvisouly it didn't. In both cases I figured they were just value betting/ check calling.
Is there anyway I could have gotten away from either of these?
