Hi!
I just wondered if it is ok to call all-in with flush draw?
When I played the hand I was just thinking that I had at least 9+3 = 12 outs. Which means I would have about 48% chance to make a winning hand before showdown. Using this numbers this call was slightly +EV. But I still feel uncomfortable if it was a correct play.(I usually fold when facing all-ins.. )

About villain, I only had 3 hands on him so, pretty much an unknown.

Well if you do the EV calculation and it comes out positive, then its a correct call. If its negative then its incorrect. Hes probably not shoving with air. (Even though players at these stakes are capable of doing so), so you do have a draw. This is about as good as draws get. I would say its a positive EV call, im just at work and too lazy to do the ev calc to get the exact number haha. You shouldn't be uncomfortable calling an all in if you feel you have adequate equity to do so. If you lose, then oh well, thats variance. In the long run youll make money if you.make the correct decisions. Just train yourself to recognize what the correct decision is as many situations as possible and you'll be less and less uncomfortable making big calls.

I would say you realistically have 40% equity in this spot. Villian can shove here with sets and all of his broadway combo draws.
Your overcard won't always be any good in this spot.
So the EV calculation will be .4X4.9-.6X4.4 = 1.96-2.64=-.68
It is pretty close imo...

That sounds right. Its correct. Its actually not as thin as i had originally believed. $.68 is still 13.5 BB.

Wasn't the +3 outs for the gutshot Queens?

Yep, well there are 3 clean Q outs for the nut straight and 1 for the nut flush.
If you stove it you will get 41% equity.
It is the kind of flop where your hand can look better than it actually is....
Yeh i forgot it was 5nl, so i guess it is quite -EV....

not sure how the stakes affect anything. once we face the shove it doesn't really matter what the original BB size was.

OP, start by using pokerstove. it's free and will help you feel more comfortable in spots like this. routinely folding against "all ins" is not a good play. making decisions based on equity is.

in one of the original posts, we had referred to the Expected Value in monetary terms, we were just clearing the air by converting to BBs
