I would have put him on either 99 or even Jx or maybe even 44. The flop seems pretty try but I think he was just slow-playing with a decent hand here and he may have hit his set on the river or else he is just bluffing. A decent player will slow play and bet on the river so it may be worth calling but with 10s you may be safe here because of no chance of a straight or flush even tho there is presence of a gutshot straight draw on the flop..

In this situation I would've called, even just to see what he really had because understanding a player like this is helpful for the future.

First post, not sure if I'm doing this by the book, so pls don't shoot me if I'm a bit off here.

I would like some input on this hand (I'm a beginning player):
The CO was a 20/9/29/4 (VPIP/PFR/WTSD/AF) player on 260 hands.
I think I probably should have bet the turn there again, and call a shuve or go broke on the river.
But in this scenario I checked the turn and he shuved.
Do you think I should have folded to this particular player?

how do you know they aren't european? all my students speak english pretty well

First of all, your raise pf should be higher than 5. Second of all all, why bet 5 again on this flop? You show weakness!

You should raise 6-7 pf, then bet standard flop, like 11-12 or something, 2/3 / close to the pot. When the J hit the turn, i think you should bet again. Its a dobble barrel card and it gives you also the broadway draw. I think you can semibluff here. If the guy calls again and a blank hit the river, you have to check-fold. This way is surrtently +EV in the long turm in my point of view.
