you mean King for a day ?
There are 4 series of that already, I mentioned it to sthief that it would be nice to keep going.
I would prefer King for a day to be an ongoing series with various coaches, released week after week
Cant say i have watched the series.

Slowjoe, is your complaint about the structure of the schedule that you want there to be more mixed game content? Or that you need more variety among the NL content?
Mixed series, not mixed games.
I'm trying to constructively address the complaints that "DC is unresponsive". I personally believe that Joe/Entity are extremely responsive: how often do you see COO/CTO guys responding to customer service talk? But equally, we see in this thread that members have a perception that they aren't responsive enough. So what gives?
It takes 2 months minimum (while the current season is in play) to address a content gap complaint. If the next season doesn't meet the request, we're talking 4 months. OTOH, some series (in different ways, Pr1nnyraiding, Solid State PLO and Coaching Kristy come to mind) DEFINITELY need 8 episodes to tell a story, or cover a game variant. Some ideas (like, to pick something out of the air, Search and Destroy or Math Attacks) probably get limited by the 8 episode format. Seems to me that we have 3 options:
1. Stick with the current season-based schedule.
2. Add flexibility to the season-based schedule.
3. Get rid of the season.
Since seasons can make sense, I like option 2.
So that was what I was writing about.
Personally, I would like more focused, niche material. Where do I go for stuff on dealing with donk bets? (I'm sure that it's probably covered in one of the Pr1nnyraiding episodes, and probably in one of Baluga's shows.) Where do I go for building a balanced (and likewise, unbalanced) flop CR ranges? (Might be in On Balance, but I don't know.) Where do I go for examples of the kinds of hands that make Krantz or you or Blah or DJSensei IM your poker buddies and say "WTF do I do here?" To plug an idea for the third time this month, I think a "DC Dictionary" series would be great, although it definitely wouldn't fit an 8 episode season schedule.
Oh, and I'd love you to bribe Ansky to make more videos with Googol!

nice post slowjoe. I def agree that the long seasons is what gives members the illusion that they are being ignored, when in fact it just takes a long time before certain requests are taken care of. But at the same time, the season thing definitely works for a lot of different series. So keeping the current system as the basic structure for releasing videos, but adding more flexibility to that structure, seems to be a nice solution.
Pretty much just reiterated what slowjoe said lol.

Maybe there should be a paying members' forum, which the coaches could devote more time to. That might help.
I don't like this idea at all. The "free" forums would completely die out and make attracting new members who are on a basic subscription much more difficult. Also, I think it should be the responsibility of coaches to stay active on the current forums. I don't see how making a bunch of new forums for "higher level users" would increase a coach's forum activity.
Generally, I would say DC already does a good job of this, however; I can't comment on all the various forums and some coaches seem to be more active then others.

Coaches don´t earn anything for being active on forums afaik, so I guess it´s just kind of a chance for the coach to advertise himself, and some take this chance and others don´t - for whatever reason.

I agree with the first half. DC is built on converting free forum members into paying subscribers. This saves on advertising for members, so private forums would be silly.
The second half is a little unfair. Coaches volunteer here, and I defy you to pay them enough to require them to stay active. And if that moral requirement were imposed, it might mean that otherwise great coaches, with great integrity, who couldn't commit to staying active indefinitely, would be lost. For three quick examples, Shuttle is travelling at the moment, and FoxwoodsFiend and Vanessa have both spent time in law school recently. It would be really tough for them to keep up with the forums continuously. That's not to say they're not active, but just to highlight that my dumb forum posts aren't always their highest priorities.

I am really surprised by some of the negative comments here about DC- I think some of you may be past the stages of learning poker and entering into a more advanced zone that I'm not sure any coaching or video can really be helpful for in a practical way.
There is so much content on this site and all of it that I have seen so far in my short time here has been helpful- all of it quality- and I think most impressively there is a passion from these coaches that really shows. I'm not kissing anyone's ass here this site is really well done and the videos are great.
I think the problem is its probably tough to get past some sort of intermediate skill level without something other than videos and forums. All the videos in the world won't make you Tom Dwan there is another element there.
Poker is like a living thing it keeps morphing but at the core there is only so much you can teach a person and if there were a video series that could make you a 15bb winner at 10/20 we would all be living on our own islands in the South Pacific.

I was under the impression that DC paid their coaches to produce videos and part of that contract is to stay active in the DC community. Obviously, its unfair to ask coaches to stay active indefinitely or be constantly available to users, but I don't think its unfair to ask to coaches currently producing videos/receiving coaching referrals to have a presence on the forums.
Note: This is by no means saying I don't think the coaches are active enough on the site. I actually think they do a good job in general. I was more posting initially because I don't think creating a tiered forum system would have any increase on a coach's forum activity/presence.

Honestly not trying to toot my own horn here, I'm just a little surprised my original comment was overlooked. In short it said if we all take a Haj School approach to the vids there should be very little complaint. And now that I'm thinking of it, if we were taking a EPTPE approach to the site this threa would have very little complaint and everyone would say "I choose this site, accept it for what it is and will make the most out of what is provided"

There is nothing wrong with critique, so long as it is rational and respectful. Without it, how would the site know where they need improvement?

I agree and am not single\ing anyone out. I think this thread has been very constructive. If you read between the lines of certain posts it seems like some people might be complaining without putting forth an all out Haj School effort. I could be wrong though.
Every time I feel like I got little to nothing out of a video, if I honestly ask myself if I gave 100% to that vid the answer is ALWAYS no. If I do take a Haj School approach, the study session is almost impossible not to be fulfilling.
EDIT:: Just noticed my under title. That Joe guy wasn't joking

Some thoughts
- For members who have been around a few years of course its going to be hard for us to find new and interesting content or feel like we take a lot away from a video or series. Had Blahs series come out in my first year of poker it would of been a real eyeopener , today theres not as much for me to take from it.
- DC took on a new coach a few weeks back - MagisterLudi. There should be a video made by the coach to go along with the announcement of his arrival. Get this guy to make a video asap - if DC was so excited by his content then it makes no sense not to share it with the members. Members pay for videos more so than to get access to a list of of possible coaches. All we have to go by is his bio and a few kind words from Grindcore.
I could say the same about a hand full of coaches who seem to be allowed advertise themselves but yet rarely produce any video content.
Recently you took on CrackMonkey who kindly offered free coaching to a bunch of members and was given great reviews by them - wheres his debut video ?
- I think the idea of having a series is still a good one if it has a specific aim such as the mental game but other than that i see most coaches make a one off series then disappear for 6 months to a year. Every member has a different idea as to what they want to see and from who. In other words we want a wide variety of video formats along with a wide variety of video produces from a wide variety of stakes. You get this by having a higher volume of videos being produced in a less structured setting.
- The quality of the video should be on the responsibility of the coach - if he has a month to make 1 or 2 videos he doesnt have to upload the first video he records. If the video gets bad reviews DC Heads take note and have a higher expectation from the coaches next video while removing the video that had little quality.
Why are there so many inactive coaches in regards to posting or producing videos that still remain within the DC coaches list ? some these need to go imo
I still think DC is one of the best training sites to be a member of , this thread is a good example of why , i just think the site needs a bit of a spring clean and a fresher approach.

I couldnt agree more with this. There are so many good coaches, but a lot of them are only available for the people that pay for personal coaching from them. I always found this super weird, and still do.
U dont even have to be a paying member to contact Improva or other coaches that doesnt seem to make videos but are listed as a coach from DC.
sometimes DC looks more like a place to find a good personal coach then to get a diversity of coaches making poker videos

Would it be an idea to give DC's best and most respected forum contributors a title? Might improve the quality of posts when people are chasing such a prestigious title.

After we announced Pawel, I shipped him a headset which took over a month to receive. Then I was off to the WSOP which brings us to now pretty much. He's fairly active in the forums: http://www.deucescracked.com/users/MagisterLudi, but I will see what he thinks about producing a video.

There are very few exceptions but almost every coach has made/contributed to a video at some point. As for Josh (CrackMonkey) he has some ideas to produce content and we hopefully can get something out in the near future.

I agree with the fresh approach, that's what made DC we are discussing this thread so we can renew that in the eye of our members.

Thanks for the reply Joe
I was under the impression , within the terms of becoming a DC coach , the coach would contribute to making poker videos. This is why i questioned how there is a list of quality coaches but only a handful seem to be producing videos. Your reply reads as tho it is an option for them ?

There are a couple of reasons for that:
I have been and I still am very sick. That makes it hard for me to put in the hours needed to make videos and respond to questions.
I have made 25 or so videos for my current and past students. It is a smaller group of people and it is easier for me to target the videos to their needs and I have a chance to answer their questions - I know their game, how they think about poker and I feel a closer connection to them (loyalty is maybe the right word?).
What I have tried to do on DC is to help out on the DC-forums as much as I could and I have done some of pro bono publico coaching over the years.
I may soon want to make some videos for DC - but I cannot make a promise since I don't know if I wake up tomorrow unable to walk without great pain.
Since I know you have put a lot of work into your game and you created this epic thread I feel like giving you a free session. Then you will also be able to compare the difference between coaching and videos. Shoot me a PM with your skype details and we will work something out.

not to discount other guys, but you and grindcore have been great about posting a lot on hands. AMT almost always posts on tourny hands, same with jjyykk and omgclaydol. you guys seem to be very willing to give some free help. its very nice to see, and we are thankful for it

Definitely agree with this. I booked a session with Pawel not long after he was announced to DC but it was based solely on the reference from Grindcore. Gridcore's words are obviously held in high regard but, even so, it did seem like a bit of a gamble at the time.
FWIW, I've since had 3-4 sessions with Pawel and despite probably being the worst student ever (because I've had hardly any time for poker over the last few months), I couldn't recommend his coaching highly enough. Would definitely love to see him make some videos, whether that be in the form of him 'introducing' himself to DC, or some kind of longer series.
