I asked a few folks on twitter about the idea of having something more than a flat rate for training sites. @WiltonTilt said this forum may be the place to get some responses. I'll copy my Reddit post below:
Instead of one higher price, have separate pricing for limits, games or format. For example, if I'm working on 6max micro there's little chance I need videos on high stakes, heads-up PLO. And, should I ever want/need those, I could upgrade my subscription a few bucks every month.
I made a thread in NVG on 2+2. It was promptly deleted with no explanation. I reposted the info which is buried deep in a sub,sub-thread where few will see it. Here's the post. Anyone else interested?

I prefer the current model where if I decided I wanted to dabble in a game I wasn't familiar with, we keep it so there is no bar to entry. If I had to add an extra dollar a month to learn stud, I probably would not have bothered.
The high stakes videos can also be useful to you as a microstakes player, in order to see how a high level thought process work. Think of it as auditing a university course while you are in high school: you may not understand everything, but it will start to open your mind to the world outside what you know.

why do you want to pay more?
I don't. I want to pay for what I use, really. This is probably the wrong place to judge interest since lots likely already pay current pricing. I should have phrased it more to the business guys here. As in, pros vs cons of it.

Hey SansRemorse,
The short answer is that we've put a lot of thought into our pricing model, and aren't looking to change it.
The longer answer is that our approach at DeucesCracked has always been about offering easy access to a broad library of content. This is why we've offered no signup fee, a free trial, and ways to earn free membership - we genuinely want our members to access as much poker content as possible to become the best poker player they can be. Our subscription pricing allows us to do this, and allows us to offer the highest quality content in the future.
I hope this answers your question.
thanks,
Rob

Thanks. I appreciate the informative response.
The idea sprang from Hold'em Manager and PokerTracker offering similar pricing to what I posted. Well, that and being a bit of a cheapskate. I hear that's in my blood though.
About that free trial - you guys are good with signing up, downloading like mad then cancelling?

We're not happy when we get hit and run, but that's the cost of offering a free trial. We feel that the benefits from offering it far outweigh the negatives.

As a comsumer I wouldnt like a tiered approach to different vids as I would be thinking (if I was a micros subscriber) I must be getting the crappy vids and the better quality ones are more expensive.

That's a refreshingly honest approach.

Well that's certainly another way to look at it. Would you also buy an entire shelf of tools when you need a hammer?

Would you go to a buffet and try to negotiate a rate for three pieces of chicken?

Nope. There's stores/restaurants that offer chicken in a variety of quantities. If there was a "store" that offered what I asked about, they'd have my money.

Your analogy doesn't make sense because from this site I buy knowledge and not a specific tangible thing that has a specific use, why would I want to buy "limited" knowledge?
I watch all stakes and many different types of poker videos and I get different ideas from each one that I an apply to my own game.
So your (sarcastic) question becomes meaningless.

Not trying to argue with you or anyone. Just trying to illustrate the way I see it.
"Knowledge" is potentially unlimited as a product. This site, then, already is limited to largely one subject: poker, unless I'm missing the "Secrets of the Universe" forum. So, you're already buying limited knowledge. The debate is then how much knowledge and for what price.
That said, to me the analogy still makes perfect sense. You prefer access to the entire tools section at Lowe's for a flat price. Whereas I asked about a lower price but limit me to socket sets (::say, uNL PLO 6max) or maybe just the Kobalt line of tools(::all uNL vids).
The question wasn't sarcastic, by the way. I was genuinely curious.

i think at its core, you feel like you should pay less for microstakes videos. it seems like the assumption is that the microstakes videos are overpriced and that high stakes videos are correctly priced. but i think that's flawed since the subscription pricing is not based on the content of the videos themselves but the cost of distributing the content and constantly creating new content. so segregating the library for different customers wouldn't change those costs, and it would make for a worse service imo.
