Hey guy's

I see guy's have been talking about it in a recent topic and I have also read it in a book of mine.

Basically the book says you shouldn't waist time, you should 4 table and use agg BRM and just drop if you lose to get as high up as quick as possible(of course if your comfy with your stake). What would you guy's say is a solid agg BRM setup?

20bi's and drop a level if you lose 2bi's to rebuild?

10bi's and drop a level after losing 1bi?

Are both of these idea's mad??

Let me know what you guy's think

25BI drop down after 3 or 30BI drop down after 5 are personally what i use.

taking a shot for less than 10BI is meaningless basically. You can lose 3-5 BI in 1 session just getting it all in preflop.

I don't think it makes sense to be 4tabling and have to get up and drop stakes if you lose with AK to QQ and/or some other stacking. So dropping after 1 or 2 buyins means you're going back down quite often. Probably won't get much of a session in at the higher stakes considering just one hand that you 3b and cbet then have to fold is like 20bbs gone.

30BIs IMO would be the most aggro I'd want to go w/a BR, dropping after 5 is okay, but it's not like 5BIs is hard to lose, so there'd be plenty of moving up and down.

I would also worry about frustration setting in because it takes you twice as long to win it back at the lower stake than it does to lose at the higher stake. Plus, you might never be at the higher stake for long since you have so little room to play before you drop down again so it could feel like grinding for a week, take a shot and in two hours you're money's gone and you're back to grinding.

Of course, you might get lucky too, and never have to drop down. Run hot at the right time. I guess that's the theory behind aggressive bankrolling. One of your shots eventually sticks with some luck and you run up a decent bankroll to withstand the next downswing.

The idea is to be as close as possible to Kelly betting. But for that to be true, you REALLY have to move down as soon as you lose the "2 buyins" or whatever it is. And constantly keep changing the stakes. Often that is counterproductive (reads, time, sanity, etc...), so people play with a 5x Kelly bankroll.

At the micro stakes where the rake is often larger than your winrate I like taking an aggressive bankroll management approach then getting more conservative as the stakes get higher.

I don't think that makes it meaningless. It doesn't mean you can't beat a level and moving down or up doesn't need to be some giant production. If you see a really good game at a level or two higher than you usually play, you don't need 40bi or whatever. Just be sure that you're mentally prepared to lose whatever sum you decide and stick to your plan unless you have an EXTREMELY good reason for deviating from it.
