Hi all the folks at DC.
Firstly let me say I'm hesitant posting this up, as it's probably something that may be taken the wrong way, like we're just in it for something for free. But here we go.
Overall I can see DC is trying to foster a community atmosphere, and would probably benefit greatly from having an active, or more active, forum etc. I think a great way to foster this, and promote a more active forum could be something along the lines of poster of the week. The frequency could of course be changed, be it to poster of the month etc, but the principle is the same.
The prize doesn't have to be major, but perhaps something that most members would not receive usually, perhaps an hour of free coaching, perhaps a review by an instructor of a video produced by the winning member. Specifically something that would improve the posters game, which they can then pass on to the community through the forums.
Some of the benefits I can see are as follows.
- An increased activity in the community, through different people competing for the prize of poster of the week
- Its a promotion giving back to people already involved inside DC. As many promotions are focused on attracting new members, hopefully this will promote a community spirit, and importantly for DC, make people want to renew their subscriptions.
- It by and large, does not cost you as much as other prizes may. Of course time including your own is not for free, but something such as coaching or a video review (especially) can we passed on to the community giving you a return on your time.
- It’s something that a lot of your members may no be able to afford on their own, so a prize worthwhile for them.
A few more points may be you might have different sections, such as small stakes contributor (someone in SS or Micro lounges) or high stakes contributor (MS or HS lounge), or even an overall winner getting coached in a game of their preference. Other than that get the relevant coach for their level, for example it’s a lot more expensive and unreasonable to expect whitelime to be coaching 25nl.
Anyway, just some idea's to throw around, hopefully it will get the forum more active an a better place to post, and your members will love you forever.
