I’m proud to announce my retirement as the Real Life: Microlimit Grinder – the time has come for me to relinquish the title and pass the mantle to another player. However, my involvement with the RLMG project is by no means over. In fact, I am happy to announce that…
I am now accepting applications from you to be the next Real Life: Microlimit Grinder.
LOGISTICS
Please send all applications to pygmyhero@yahoo.com. I would strongly prefer that the emails be text (not as attached files). The deadline will be February 15th. I will be reviewing applications as I receive them and my goal will be to announce my selection that evening. Depending on the number of applicants I may opt to narrow the field to a few final contestants and obtain more information from the finalists.
REQUIREMENTS
Be aware that this is a fairly large time commitment. The series will run in 2009 Season 2 (which starts on March 9th). Ideally I will have 2-3 episodes pre-recorded by that date. As far as recording goes, I am in the EST and hold fairly normal (for a non-poker player) hours. However, if you are the right person, I’m confident we will find times that work. In other word, as long as you have some availability, I think it’ll be fine.
In addition to all the normal poker software I assume all of you have (Hold ‘Em Manager, Poker Stove, etc.), you will need Skype, Mikogo (a screen sharing application), and a decent internet connection. DeucesCracked will provide you with a headset and Camtasia (if it is needed).
Other than that you must be willing to reveal your screen name, be on public display, and capable of receiving constructive criticism positively.
APPLICATION CRITERIA
There are some things I’m looking for, but I really don’t want to delve too deeply into them. I do not want people tailoring their application to a certain set of criteria – in many ways what you choose to write about will tell me something about you.
That said, I am ideally looking for someone who plays $1/$2 or less. Let me be perfectly clear on this – this is a MICRO stakes series, so $0.50/$1, $0.25/$0.50, and even lower are perfectly fine. I am not particularly concerned with how ‘good’ you are or even whether or not you’re a winning player. Likewise it doesn’t really matter what your experience level is – as long as you have some hands to send me (if you are chosen) so I can analyze your play.
I would ask that you include the following information in your application:
Your DeucesCracked screen name
Your Skype screen name
What time zone you are in
A brief summary of you poker experience: how long have you played, what stakes, about how many hands, etc.
Where you play now mostly, including your screen name on that site, approximately how much you play in a week or month
Other than that, the rest is pretty much up to you. You can write about anything you feel makes you a strong applicant. If you need some guidance, consider:
Why you think you’d be a good fit as the next RLMG
What you would hope to gain from being in the series
Your strengths and weaknesses as a poker player
Your future plans for poker
Any ideas you have for the RLMG series (I have some ideas already, but this is a chance for you to show your creativity / flare – if you offer an original idea I like I’ll make sure you get hooked up even if I don’t choose you as the next RLMG)
That’s not to say you need to write about all (or even any) of those things. As usual with DeucesCracked, quality > quantity.

Wow, just as I have foreseen it! The apprentice is now the master! (half of my vocabulary comes from Star Wars btw). Mike u did an awesome job IMO! The only problem is because of your work I now feel overqualified for the new series.
I must encourage every micro player to send an application. I trust u all understand what an awesome oppurtunity this is!
great opportunity for some of you small stakes guys. Good job Mike!
I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out -- I really suggest any of you guys who read the forum (even lurkers!) apply because there's a lot to be gained here.
Rob
I forgot to put this in my first post, but since I likely won't recognize your email address, if you send an application please include some words like 'RLMG' and/or 'DC' in the title. Needless to say, any emails with a subject line like 'enlarge' or 'Nigeria' may accidentally be re-routed to spam.
Thank you to the person who has already submitted an app and was clever enough to clearly identify it as the former.
i would like to apply ... im down to 1/2 if that helps
?
is there any chance or do i waste time in sending u an email, michael?
This is another great idea from DC. congrats on who ever gets this (obv sent an app
)
Will definitely apply
applied! run good one time!
Will definitely apply
+1

Peter my friend, I am extremely happy to say that you overqualified.
And besides, Omakase is going really well. Do a victory dance for me! Anyway, your post was pretty funny - wish I could say I was a master of check/raising the river. ![]()
James, thanks. ![]()
Gus, get with me on Skype.
I have already received three applications and want to say thanks you to those people. I'm looking forward to receiving more!
Bump.
Hey... don't tell everyone ![]()
just wanted to say that I would have loved this opportunity at the time I was at the 1/2 stakes, big thing for the chosen one imo ![]()
