Mikey,

I\'m not sure of your question but I agree with your statements here. It\'s good that you are aware of the rake, it\'s very important in the long run.

This is why rakeback is so important for a beginning player online. But many player who used rakeback from the beginning do not understand rake-impact or even know what the rake schedule for the game they are in.

You are right. I don\'t think that 2/4 game you mention is beatable. For example, I have statking which tracks my live play, and in over 300 hours of live 3/6 play when I first was learning the game, I win ~$6 per hour. A lot of people when they see how bad a live 3/6 player typically plays start to think they will beat the game for a ton. I\'m surprised I beat it for as much as I did, the rake is hugeeeee at 3/6 and dwarfs any skill.

I guess I don\'t know what you were looking for in an answer other than for someone to agree or disagree with you. You are definitely right that the rake can make most any game unbeatable if it\'s high enough, and it can change the way you play to some extent as I think we address in a few lower stakes videos. A close decision we might say \"I\'d play this at 10/20 but not at 3/6 because the rake here has a larger effect and probably turns the hand from a slight winner to a slight loser.\"

Are we talking about $6 MAX rake or $6 just to deal the flop? If the latter, the games sucks, but is still probably beatable (especially if $1 of the rake is for a BBJ which encourages a lot of donkey call downs)

$6/pot regardless of size borders on criminal, and would indeed be close to unbeatable it\'s almost 20bb/100 per player (roughly 13bb/100 more per player than for an online 2/4 6 max game). No one\'s edge is that big in limit poker.

ok.....I have asked this question on 2+2....and asked a couple higher limit players. But its difficult do get a solid answer.
And I realize you can answer all poker questions with \"IT DEPENDS\"....
however....I think the rake question is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. (note the heads up tape ..two evenly matched players...only the rake won)
at some point...ALL GAMES BECOME UN PLAYABLE...if the rake is too high.(or you suck...but thats different...cause you had no edge to begin with)
for example....I think a $2/$4 game with a $6 total rake...is unbeatable.(with rare exceptions)
I just saw a reply to a post on 2+2 that belittled a guy for asking this RAKE question. yet his only answer was....\"the players in most small limit games are so bad...you can beat them easily\"..
thats not a answer...
1) you need the SKILL to be a winning player(beat the bad players)
2) you need a EASY game (bad players)
3) you need a RAKE that does not KILL YOUR EDGE.

its the values of 2 and 3 above... and how to compare them....that I am looking for.....

I dont think I was very clear here....but I hope you understand my question....ty
