Yeah, I really can\'t disagree with anything CDC wrote in his post. I almost never 3bet here but I 3bet a lot less from the blinds than many. I also will generally just check-call this flop and take different lines on the turn, but usually I\'m going to check-call all streets with a fair amount of frequency once I face a preflop cap. Given your preflop 3bet, call of the cap, and flop checkraise, the pot is now large enough that while you really can only beat overplayed crapola, you\'ve still got to call down without an actual strong read as to his postflop handranges.

Whoa, slow down shoota. You dont need to 3-bet here preflop, just call. Then slow down on the flop, he did cap preflop, he CAN have a huge hand.
As for the others, feel free to isolate if thats what likely will happen.

I agree with everything C dee C said, and I\'d add that A9s is a 3-betting hand for me vs an agressive button who is likely to try to steal, A9o I just call. A9s is the bottom end of my 3-betting range out of position vs a button steal, and even then i will tend to just call if the button has a tendency to cap lightly to over-represent his hand.

I tend to mix it up with these Ax type hands in the BB facing a button steal. Against thinking players if you flat call pre with Ax and c/r an Ace high board its very difficult for them to put you on one. So you can gain a good bit of value by mixing it up in these situations. But here after you 3-bet and he caps pre just check/call down. As for the pf questions I raise both almost always.

PF standard? Shouldn\'t raise the flop as he cap pf? Fold the river?

Bonus pf question
50/14/0.7 limp from UTG. You\'re CO with Q9s/QTs. Overall table is not very aggressive
What do you do? Does it depend on limper\'s post-flop tendency?

Post edited by: iplaylimit, at: 2007/06/21 03:00

preflop you don\'t have to 3-bet. quite often i just call and see the flop, usually checkraising favorable ones and if i am so lucky to catch an ace they may call me down lightly because they may not feel like i have one. anyways, 3-betting is okay too sometimes but i think as a default 100% play it is a tad too aggressive.
trying to take initiative on the flop is okay though simply calling down is probably best unless this guy is really nutso, especially since he capped. if anything i think your default would be to let him do the betting for you. once you get jammed up, i think calling down is going to be profitable given the draws out there but obviously you\'re going to be disappointed a lot when he shows you the better hand. as a note, once you put this much action in preflop and on the flop, you should pretty much always see a showdown here. you\'ve bloated the pot too much not to in this hu spot.
