Never played before, so I thought I'd give it a go at lower stakes than my usual. At .5/1 I got sat frequently by guys who were obviously clueless. Is it beatable with so many megafish (ie 95/2/0.5 types). If not at what stakes do you guys think it becomes worthwhile?

I think the value in playing HUHU at this level is developing your game and learning difficult skills that often get overlooked in 6m or full ring (such as blind battles). You might be able to make a little, but don't expect to have a huge win rate.
If I had to guess, I would think HUHU becomes beatable around 10/20, but at that point I think the games become insanely reg infested.

yeah rake is a big deal at huhu - i think it starts to be beatable maybe around 2/4 or 3/6 on non-terribly-raked-sites (meaning not merge - dunno where you play atm). of course the megafish are beatable (not counting rake) - remember, it's a fallacy that better opponents are more beatable. try the HU LHE sngs - they offer em for 5 or 10 a pop or whatever, and rake is not a big factor there. you can get lots of experience cheaply that way.

Yeah over about 1000 hands at stars today I'm paying over 6 BB/100 rake which seems an absolute tonne. Think I will try HUSngs if I want to play some heads up
Yeah I think HUSNGs are the way to go to be practicing your HUHU game.

I don't think it's got anything to do with minbetting.
It's HeadsUp in a HeadsUp table (or more generally HU with 2 player dealt in, I think - not really sure how the purists would look at that), as opposed to "I was HU on the flop (in a 6max table)"

I see.

ty for the HUHU explanation, I'd wondered why it was called that for years.
Also I think HULHE is somewhat worth playing but you have to be acutely aware of the rake implications, some stakes on some sites just simply aren't beatable. For example anything on party or ipoker on ongame lower than 3/6 aren't beatable even post rakeback.

guys, an explanation of what HUHU means is in the fancy welcome guide that everyone should have read when they first come to the forum!
huhu became beatable on ftp and ps (when i was playing) at 2/4 and obv got a lot better at 5/10 and 10/20. there are a lot of regs though, so the time spent waiting is cumbersome, and playing regs is a good way to lose a lot of money.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 1/2 games are beatable on stars now since they have lowered the rake for those games a while ago. I assume there aren't many regs in the game. If you go higher, even at 2/4 it is so hard to find action.

As bad as the rake was at 1/2, the game was still beatable. You all underestimate just how horribly bad the average players were. That said, there is a big difference between "beatable" and "worth the effort." 2/4 was easily beatable, but hardly worth the effort after rake. 3/6 was only marginally better.
