...think I mis-played them both. Your line?
Hand #1
Villain is 50/19 over about a 1000 hands. Wtsd 43. My notes on him are that he's peel lightly with an underpair, and not turned it into a bluff on a K/A trn/rvr, will passivley play tpmk vs preflop aggression, and call down with Ace high.

Merge - $0.50/$1 (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

MP: $20.14
CO: $24.25
BTN: $13.01
SB: $29.86
Hero (BB): $39.50
UTG: $22.83

SB posts SB $0.25, Hero posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has 7Diamond 6Diamond

UTG calls $0.50, fold, fold, BTN calls $0.50, SB calls $0.25, Hero checks

Flop: ($2.00, 4 players) 7Club 8Spade 8Heart
SB checks, Hero bets $0.50, fold, BTN calls $0.50, SB calls $0.50

Turn: ($3.50, 3 players) QDiamond
SB checks, Hero bets $1.00, BTN calls $1.00, fold

River: ($5.50, 2 players) 9Heart
Hero ? B/F? X/F? X/C?

Gotta make that thin value bet in hand #1. If I have a read that villain will call down with Ace high, that can't happen if I don't bet right? I think my concern that that gutshot overcards likely hit that specific turn and/or river is misguided. No?

I think I should have bet/folded (i.e. bluffed) the river in hand #2. If I get someone to fold anything, than I'm pretty happy. I probably would have heard from someone earlier if they had peeked down and saw an Ace. No? Too many times they pull the "I call. I play the board" card?

Hand 1 is a pretty marginal spot on the flop and turn. I'd check/fold this river. If you have the best hand or a chop, you'll often see a free showdown and you are going to be beat here a lot.

Hand 2, I would have check/folded the flop. After betting the flop and getting called twice behind me, I would have check/folded the turn. As played, I think check/folding the river is probably going to be best. The pot is bloated now, but the chances that neither player has Ax or Jx are pretty slim, plus they may well call playing the board (which is bad for given your actual holding). If you bet and take down the pot, that's a huge win for you, but if you bet and get 1 fold to split the pot, you only make about $1.50 in profit.

Hand 1- I like betting flop and turn. Think check/fold is best on river. Villain is passive so we can exploit him not bluffing and also with the river 9 we got there with all legitimate semibluffs and so would be able to value bet this river frequently enough that I think with weak 7x we can check. Maybe value bet 7x with a kicker playing?

Hand 2- Think this was spewy. Betting this flop into 3 players all of whom have every Ax combo possible preflop. Don't think you should bet any street here (even as played) and just check/fold your way out of there asap. And yeah they call playing the board on the end I think (or at least 1 does). That said I would guess that a river bet would be the least of a mistake compared with the flop and turn bets as there is some chance we can discount Jx and Ax from their ranges due to the 2 J blockers on the board and the lack of aggression shown in the hand (but then again these are 2 loose passive fish who might not bother trying to get value with good value raises). Overall I just don't see why you got yourself involved when this flop hit though.

What's the guys arrgesion factor in the second hand? I think I just check fold to anybody who isn't always betting when checked to.
