Beginner Limit Hold'em Poker Forums

Hey all

Posting a couple of hands a day. In the last 24hours I have convinced myself this was a good fold and a bad fold. the more I think about I think should have called the flop bet.

Apologys if this is a basic hand, I have to be leaking somewhere.
First orbit at the table, now reads notes or viable stats on the villains (have 17hands between them LOL)
UTG only started the hand with 11big blinds - not sure if this influences the decision

Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is BB with K Q
UTG raises, 2 folds, SB calls, Hero calls

Flop: (6 SB) 7 6 5 (3 players)
SB bets, Hero??

Easy easy easy fold. Huge reverse implied odds situation with a raiser behind you, no real draw for your hand, and too many ways that the SB can have you beat now, or by the river. When you factor the nature of the board and that you're trapped in between, a fold is SUPER easy.

To make this hand interesting, let's talk about what you'd do with K9 here, and why you'd do it.

HMM with K 9 with the same action I would only call. I have a GS, Overcard and BDFD, so I value this hand as being worth 8.5 outs(four 8s, 3 Ks and 1.5 for BD) and I still have the orginal raiser to act behind me. If I was still unimproved on the Turn I would fold 3handed to any bet but I would call HU.
If I had K,9 I would be raising the flop
