Hey all

I have just moved up from .1/.2 to .25/.5 I have only played a small sample size (800hands) and was on a decent WR until my last session, anyhow Dont mind as I say its a small sample size. As i have just moved up I am only playing one table, sometimes two maximum.
I have noticed that
- majoirty of hands are won with a PFR and CBET, occassionally a double barrel also.
- PF seems tighter and alot of folds to blinds. Due to this I think I am playing too passively in certain situations, and sometimes overplaying 2nd paor.

I think I have played ok / good / bad sessions. Decision wise and card wise. But was wonders if anyone could recommend some adjustments. At the moment I am cutting small offsuit connectors out of my BTN range and examining my others ranges tomorrow.

I think your sample size is way too small to make judgments about the relative differences between those limits. In general, I'd recommend playing tighter preflop while you get your feet wet in a new limit. It's not the most +EV strategy, but it will help you feel more comfortable with the games. Take great notes, note what other people showdown with and what their postflop lines look like, and then start thinking about how you can exploit those linese and tendencies. Then start playing more hands and abusing their weaknesses. Smile

i think you need to concentrate not on having an exact range for each of your positions but to alter your positional ranges to attack your opponents ranges with, i also think you need to learn to mutitable....at least 4, at a smaller limit to build a database and produce a large enough sample size to find an accurate WR and to find your leaks before you move up....also for table selection purpose which is "very important" at pokerstars....... although pokerstars has a large number of fish theres a huge feild of tough opponents that will run over you

I'm no expert on any of this, but been around in micro's for couple years now - running ok now I'd say.
I've been up and down between 0.5/0.10 - 0.25/0.50. (0.1/0.2 currently). Maybe I'm stuck for ever in micros Grin I don't mind, I just love playing the game. Could afford with my income to go up any point, but just want to get there by playing, building my bankroll. If can't get there that way, so bet it.
Haven't been too active in forums, I'm not much of a writer(yeah, I'm an introvert finnish guy Smile

So as Tech said table selection and notes on players is the key. Nowdays I sometimes use a bit more time just following the games, making notes, knowing my regs. User the stars color codes, they're awsome. When you have more hands on people and color coded, it's easier to find good tables from lobby.
And if all tables seems just full of TAGs and maniacs, do something else. Watch videos, read the forums. Check the tables a bit later. Or just play one level lower for a moment.

Hey again
I know that sample size is rediculas, I dont usaully pay attention to my stats at limits until i hit 10k hands, with about 15k i feel represents a true read - was just bugging me, was planning to tighten up a little
I have a default range against unkwowns from positions which do get adjusted based on table / player dynamics.
I usually player 3 tables at a time. sometimes I would play four, but felt I could make better descisions with one less table. I like to be disaplined when I play so last time and this time I have moved up, I play one / two tables to get used to the limit and then gradually add more tables.
I will post my basic stats later and see if I can get an insight from my previous limit.
over 26k hands I was running at 3.73bb/100. however I stopped playing and have started again seriously and am hoping to move through the limits fast, so I count my stats from this year only incase leaks etc have crept in. I played 20k hands at the lower limit this year and was running at 4.12bb/100
I have also been doing an experiment with table selection latlely. I usaully pick the tables with the highest player to flop ratio and leave or stay after a while based on how the dynamics change over play. Over the last week or so I have been playing for 30mins at each table and then selecting new high player to flop ratio tables. Not sure if it was fallacy creeping in but I had thought majorty of the time I seemed to do alot better once the table I started one tightened up.

It might not be a bad idea for you to record and post a session in the member videos section if you think you are overplaying hands in some situations and being too passive in others.

Also, as Rob said, take great notes and try to find holes in the games of your opponents.

It takes a while to get used to differing levels of tightness and aggression between limits, try not to force anything.
