Hey fellas, skig-scag here. I've lurked on 2+2 for a while, but love the content here, so I've decided this site to be my home. Borrowing the idea from 2+2, this is going to be my goal thread (haven't spent much time on this site either but haven't seen a goal forum on DC.)

I'm going to start grinding 10LHE with a 211 big bet bankroll, and drop down to 4LHE if I lose 60 big bets at 10LHE. I'm a little worried that I might be under-rolled, but I'm gonna "shot take" and go from there. I'm not going to be multi-tabling, so my goal for the next 30 days is 3,000 total hands.

I've been playing poker for about 2 years, but am stuck in the micros because of bad BR management and a tendency to rage during a bad sesh. I also find it monotonous to grind a single game (hold'em for example), so I jump around and pay to learn a new game. A more mental goal is to go Tommy Angelo on tilt and grind hold'em exclusively. Once the BR gets bigger, I can play some 08.

[ ] control tilt
[ ] grind 10LHE
[ ] play 3,000 hands in 30 days (100 hands/day)
[ ] profit?

Hey fam, it's almost 2 am in my area of the country and I finished a 46 hand session. I'm getting sleepy, and I wanted to go over some hands before I was totally incapacitated (score one for controlling a form of tilt). Since I started my sesh a bit after 1 am, I'm gonna get technical and finish the rest (54) tomorrow afternoon before work. One tabling full ring LHE, 100 hands should take about 2 hours. I like the prospect of getting in 14 hours a week at the tables (score one for embracing the grind).

While playing, the deck hit me in the face with QQ within 2/3 orbits, cracked AA with a set of the ladies, and AA once (though I laid down the over pair on a wet flop in MP facing action and action to come). Since I was scooping up the pots I was playing, I found myself severely tightening up my preflop game because I told myself I needed to keep up my winning image. There were some spots I could've opened KT or A8 in LP when folded to me, but I threw them away because I didn't feel they would win the pot. I have a mental leak that is, not so much playing scared money, but just afraid of losing pots (when I play live I'm not afraid of calling off a $100 "bluff".) Idk what to call this leak, but I have to get over the OCD of 1). having uneven stacks (up $1.07, a raise will change that to up $0.93), and 2). being ok with having a losing session if it's variance's fault.

I came out a winner this sesh, 10 big bets (was more, but ASpadeADiamond on a JSpadeTSpade8Club board cost me a preflop raise; so did K6o as a button steal, cbetting flop TClub2Club6Spade, checking AHeart turn and 4Club river cost me some), but I think I artificially created a win. To my defense, though, in those two hands I wasn't afraid of raising pre or cbetting.

Positives:
I vbetted better than I normally do. Of course it was easy because I held an over-pair until the river, but the board paired twice on the turn, and in the face of my MUBSY-ness, I still put a bet out there for value when the river came an A or K.

I'm super sleepy. More tomorrow.

hey skig-scag,

welcome to dc and gl on your journey. unlike NL, we usually talk about our limits in terms of the actual limit.. so where you say 10LHE, we just say .05/.10 (or 2/4, or whatever... occasionally you'll see high stakes players talking about the 50 game(or whatever), and that is 50/100)

200BB is generally considered a very small BR but if you're willign to move up/down its fine. you should check out the welcome thread at the top of the forum, it has some tips in there that should help yuo out.

How do you feel about multitabling? i have always struggled keeping focus on just one table, especially full ring.. it will obviously help your grind and hourly to have a second (or 3rd tabling running) at FR its rare to find yourself in two hands at once that require a lot of thought... so it might be something to think about

post a few more of those hands in full, the ones you glanced over look like you made mistakes unless i'm misreading them.

finally, a lot of this looks like it could be in a blog, check those out on DC as well!
