Keep in mind the villain\'s range.
AA - we tie.
KK - I win
QQ - I lose
JJ - I lose (not sure if he can hold JJ here)
I think the board is too scary for him to bet any hand that I beat except KK. I don\'t think he is value betting hands like AQ if he miraculously holds them, and he will probably check behind with AK (unlikely holding as well)

Post edited by: *TT*, at: 2007/06/05 18:07
Are you really trying to check fold? Bet the river, fold to a raise.
Bet/fold >>>>>>> check/call on the river.

So if we take out JJ you are a 2:1 favorite. Bet.

To QQ or JJ? If JJ check/fold is looking more appealing but we weren\'t sure of his preflop range.

Interesting river. Villain is very passive post flop, never raises pre-flop except AA, KK, QQ - not sure about JJ (he limped with AK once). River check and resulting action is obviously the most interesting street, but the flop decision is interesting as well, my knowlege of MP and the villain\'s hand range helped decide that it was the best course of action.
Preflop: Hero is UTG with A
, A
Hero raises, MP raises, CO raises, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls, MP calls.
Flop: (13.50 SB) T
, 9
, 8
(7 players)
Hero checks, MP checks, CO bets, Hero raises, MP folds, CO calls.
Turn: (8.75 BB) 4
(6 players)
Hero bets, CO calls.
River: (10.75 BB) Q
(6 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero...........

Sometimes its so simple that its staring me in the face, yet I dont see it. Thanks.
results:I called (which I hated doing) and lost. Same cost & result as if I bet/folded the river, but there would have been more value in betting the river because the few times I win there is an overlay.

Lost to QQ. Even after playing with the same player for some time I don\'t know if JJ is within his range, its very possible its just on the outside based on his general pre-flop behavior.
