From OPs description, seems like a pretty easy bet/fold.

Agree with this. Also villain sounds like he might be a very good player...
im b/c here early in the match unless you have donked a riv vs him before. Some players take weird lines vs a riv donk and im happy enough to give him the impression early on that im not prepared to fold a pair

I went back and forth on this one. Thank you all for some great insight.
I think bet/fold is the play. As mentioned in one of the posts, every draw hit on the river. I believe the villian was smart enough to realize this. Therefore, if I bet, and he raised, his raise was for value almost always given the action up to this point. The same applies to if I check and he bets. Even though he is capable of making thin value bets, I believe any bet going in on this river was much more likely to be with a better hand than mine. The villian is either calling down with a made hand, has now hit his hand on the river, or is going to check back or fold his Ace high type hands. There are very few hands, if any, that he has missed this board with and will now turn into a bluff.
I think bet/fold is the play.
I now agree with this too. As you note, the money goes in better if Hero bets and we shouldn't feel at all uncomfortable folding to a raise, especially given our read. For my own part, I think this seemed like a closer spot than it really is because I was putting too much weight on seeing a sd. In this case, we already have a read and in any event I feel like I'm being reminded in recent threads not to take second best lines all the time just because I want a peek at villain's cards.

Word. Something I really need to work on too. Great thread!
