I think this was played ok apart from 3betting the turn. I think I should have just called down after I was raised. any opinions?

Ya, I would just call down facing the turn raise. If he shows you A5o or free-show-down-raised a hand like QJ and checked back the river, just take a note and 3-bet him next time.
