Ok so right now I'm playing .25/.50 and as you can see from my pics things aren't going so good.

As you can see I play tight from most positions but open up on the button.

I just can't seem to win. It's soul destroying.

I believe I'm playing well. I'm only playing good starting hands and know the power of having position. I've been playing poker for a few years so I'm not a newb but I just seem to get bad beat after bad beat by the fish.

I'm winning lots of small pots but when it comes to the big pots I get outed by terrible hands on the river.

These low limit fish will play anything and are just unbelievably lucky.

I'm patient and I have a fairly good idea of when I'm beat. But right now I'm just so unlucky it's unreal.

Just today I folded a set of queens when the 4th spade come and the guy raised me so I'm not some fish who doesn't know when to fold. I'd say I'm pretty good but not great.

At these micro levels there's people with stats like 75/20 and over and over again in the last 18k hands they get so lucky on the river that it's killing my bankroll.

So many times I have had aces and kings cracked by people with hands like 46 os and they get 2 pair on the river or hit their gut shot.

What are they even doing in the hand with 46 os?

I can't find the hand history but the other day I had AA. I raised, button RR, SB calls, I cap, button and sb call.

FLOP: 2/4/10 SB checks, I bet, button folds SB reraises me. I call.

TURN: 7 sb bets I call

RIVER: 7 sb bets I call

SB wins with 67os

WTF! SB calls 2 raises preflop with 67 os and gets absolutely nothing on the flop and then gets so lucky to get trips on the turn and the river. It's as if he could see the future.

Hands like these happen to me all the time.

These people play like lunatics almost every hand and their bankroll seems to go up and I'm trying to play patient and play good poker and mine just goes down and down.

Should I just quit or is 18k hands not a large enough sample?

I need some advice please because right now I just feel like giving up. Right now it looks like luck over rides skill and I just can't get a break.

Sorry for the long post but I needed to get some of this off my chest from the last week of bad beat after bad beat.

Anyway sob story over/

PS: there is some .50/1 mixed in there mainly the large downswings when I went on tilt.

At the .25/50 level I have absolutely no tilt. Whenever a big bad beat happens I take a break so tilt has nothing to do with the losses apart from the large downward spikes when I went to .50/1 and spazzed some cash away like an idiot.

you're overall much too tight. it's likely you're not playing a winning style right now.

also, you played 18k hands in 5 days? cut way down on tables and focus on playing well. that will affect your tightness. start out with some videos on here, and post hands you have questions about. 'the price is right' is a good starting point for videos.

also, sample size.

and welcome to the forum.

Ok thanks. Right now I've been playing only group 3 hands from most positions and group 5 hands from co and quite loose on the button if it's folded too me.

I will try playing a bit less tight but if I'm losing with premium hands can I really expect to do better playing looser?

These group X hands come from HEfAP, right? The advice there is way too tight/passive - it was a function of the nitty 90s games. Be sure to watch some videos on more "modern" type games.

take it slowly. right now you need to work on your fundamentals. play fewer tables. watch useful online videos.

Yes, 6-max.

Yeah you can open up your game a bit then....

Also, is there a DC hand chart? I just made a makeshift one based on what Chuck said.

Wow yeah I didn't see the 18k hands in 5 days.

Thanks everyone. I've stopped playing for now and am just going to watch every limit holdem video on this site first before I get back into the action.

The price is right is definitely opening my eyes on how to play better.

Thanks again.

Hey dude

I cant give any advice on videos as I havent seen any. I have been wokring on my game hugely lately here are some things that helped me (ready to move up again also).

Back down to one table with obbessive note taking. I hardly ever play against the same opponents so I think the HUD can only give an assuption on how the villains play due to the sample size - I find note much more helpful during a session.

When I am reviewing my hands at the moment I am stoving more or less everyhand - this has helped me in situations where I thought I was good alot of the time but had poor equity and also helped me see how many loose calls I made and some lucky pots I have won.

I think if you watch all the videos and dont play you will cramm you head with too much when you start playing again. i think it would be better to watch a couple and play a session or two with the concepts in mind.

I also take part in hand swaps monthly with friends I have on skype, I find this very helpful and you are welcome to join if you like.

@grandmofftarkin Im interested in your comment about only barely beatable. would you expand please?
I have played mainly .1/.2 currently running at about 3.7/100. I have moved up to .25/.5 twice and back down again after a few sessions as I didnt feel comfortable with Minimum bankroll after a few losses. I am considering making a deposit and moving up whats the best levels to start at? Also I noticed not much diffence in villains at .25/.5 limit.

Hmm well the rake is just so much compared to a big bet, but don't take that post the wrong way. I did the same thing with depositing more money and moving up.

I only played like 17k hands at .25/.50 and ran about 2.25 BB/100, so it's not that bad. TBH I probably ran like a champ--I think I was 42/52 wsd/w$sd) .And that's with some heads up playing (def don't do that...). And if you're on merge, don't play at the BBJ tables...

If you're able to recognize that the swings were affecting you, then you'll be fine!

*Im at work typing this on my phone, so I'll recheck this when I get home in 8hours

Well, don't stop playing...just take it easy. Also you don't have every video at once--one or two a day should be fine. Just passively watching the videos doesn't help as much as pausing and taking notes.
