Hu situation against a spazzy maniac. He's been really aggressive, capping hands like J9o and A9s(those of I've seen shown), betting all streets just with high cards, winning many pots just with pure aggression. Stats just for 30 hands, vpip around 60, pfr 32, total aggresion 2, donking 33 % of flops.
Only place he is capable folding seems to be the turn.

I'm at btn with A9o, 3b seems a standard play against his range.
On flop I feel I'm easily a head so I cap, he checks the turn so I'm almost 100% sure he did
not hit 3, so I cbet and no check raise comes. 8 comes on river and I get check raised...

Should I just call here? I feel like 3betting and calling he's 4bet.
I still don't think he has any 3s, he could do this move just with overcards, 8x hands which I beat,
I do not beat 88 of course.

I would just call the river. I think he's like either bluffing or has us beat pretty often. I'd have to have a really good read that this opponent was just a maniac before i 3-bet the river and I don't see how you could have that read after only 30 hands.

If he shows up with a hand like A8o, take a note and start putting in more action.

I agree with other posters. I would just call and see hat he has. 30hands is too small of a sample size to make assumptions about his play

Are you ever folding? What hands does he have that are calling your 3bet on the River? Notice his line, crazy spazzy guy opens, then continues aggression and caps. Flop comes preeeeety dry, he bets, you raise, crazy guy caps again. I still don't see anything that puts A8-, AJ, A10, QJ etc out of his range at this point. Knowing his image he probably thinks you are raising him with AJ-AK, KQ etc a lot of the time. When he check calls the turn he never has a 9 imo or an overpair (he would bet his 9, check raise overpairs), and he is only putting you on two big cards or a PP less than 99's. The check raise on the river is either A8, or 98, some A3/K3 suited combo or some stupid bluff where he thinks he can get A high to fold to one more BB. The only hand that is calling you is A8, 98 etc is raising, overpairs are raising turn, so I think you are either beat and getting 4bet, or are ahead and not getting called when you raise. Easy call.
