I just thought I would post this as I'm about to take my first legit shot at $50NL come probably Sunday night or Monday. I guess I just want to know from players already established at that limit what the differences, if any, are. Currently I think I'm beating $25NL at about 4-5bb/100 over about 30K hands. Is it basically just going to be bigger pots and less fish/more regs?

Thanks for the heads up. Guess the trick is going to be paying more attention and trying not to over-adjust.
Yes - develop a flexible range for every position preflop and know how you are going to react to a 3 bet in every position with your range. Be prepared to fold more preflop and not spazz out if a good reg starts pounding on you in position.
I have found this to be the difficulty in moving from NL $50 to NL$100. Having most of my pre flop play predetermined avoids making mistakes such as calling 3 bets OOP too much, or getting tilted from pre flop aggression. Learnt this the hard way unfortunately.

So Ive played a wide array of staked from 25NL to 10kNL and I would say the best thing is to not focus on the stake. Just focus on ranges and players, and whether they adjust.
Look at where people are making mistakes.
Is someone opening too much? Not opening enough?
Defending too much against a certain position?
Not c/r enough? Folding when you c/r like 50% of the time?
Not 3betting enough?
3betting too much?
Cbetting too much?
Alot of these players adjust but adjust in the wrong ways. Some people just combat c/r with cbetting 100% and playing back which can be a huge mistake depending on there opening range. Others are nits. Other just start cbetting 100% and folding when you c/r 50% on and on and on. Dont be scare. Be creative and look for the mistakes they are making! There will be a ton!
These are all the common leaks people can have and understanding how to exploit it is where you are going to improve. If you can't see where the mistakes people are making (including regs), I would quit. If you can formulate a plan and go from there. Just enjoy playing higher stakes. Nerves will come but thats part of the excitement. Have fun!

great post, whenever i take shots and i focus on ranges and my opponents tendencies i do much better than if i think at all about the amount of money i'm playing for, basically you have to try and think about the money as points, and how can you get the most points, then you won't be so affected by losing say 10 buyins in a session ~ also make sure your rolled to handle a big losing session
