I prefer not to irritate bad players. I prefer to be the player that they "enjoy" losing money to.

Absolutely This!!!
Your goal is that the Live ones piss away money to you while having a lot of fun... that way they'd be less likely to leave.

If someone calls a 3b OOP with T7o you can be sure that he's playing mainly to have fun, while maybe thinking that he can win big money:
- If when he flops 2p you say "Wow, nice hand! I'd never put you on that, you really got me there" he will be having fun and stay at the table
- If you start with "How in hell can you yadda yadda range gabba gabba position" he'll start to feel unconfortable and leave

On the otherhand I'll purposely needle and try to tilt decent regs so they quickly request for a table change as soon as they come to my table (a couple do this) although I'm too nice of a guy to pull this off frequently.

Good like trying to pull that off with a good Reg Wink

My mind nearly explodes when live "regs" (i.e. guys who play a lot live and are non-spewey/can fold a hand/can put money in the pot when they have good hands and therefore probably make money from all the spewtards but who still suck compared to online regs) criticizes a huge fish's play or condescendingly asks them what they were thinking.

I'm hoping to think more about online play. Wrt the above point, there isnt the same amount of interaction so online against an avatar they dont enjoy losing money to them, there are no extraneous feelings outside of their emotional involvement in the winning of the pot. But that doesnt mean they won't continue playing.

How about xraising all in and showing the bluff, and then carrying on about how bad your opponent is if they fold.

I suppose you can do this online (I have a tendency to turn auto-muck cards on).

Before I started learning, this REALLY tilted me (before i knew what the term or concept meant). Any more online examples? You can't see the opponent. Obv you can hit and run on them, but where's the continued profits in that?

Hit and Runner's annoy me even though I know statistically it doesn't make a difference.

not so sure about this. I think that longer play time gives the more skilled players an advantage.

speaking of this. In live poker I'm really starting to get irritated with people always trying to have a conversation with me. I've even wear headphones and everyone still tries to talk to me. i'm not an asshole so I always end up talking with them here and there. Whats the best way to make someone shut the fuck up and still not hate you? i guess is my question here.

The best way I've found is to not react. Don't look at, don't answer as if your headset is too loud to hear them. I think not being amicable is a mistake, but that's how to do it.

Why would you encourage others to spike call you? A lot of the edge in a FT is capitalizing on people's fear and tightness, tilting them is going to remove that edge somewhat.

It's also going to be unpredictable as to how they're gonna respond. This sort of stuff is best when moderate to deep stacked,

Are you serious?

Why wouldn't you want to chat with the fish and keep the game chatty and friendly? Most of the fish are playing as much for the social side of the game as they are for the gamble, so by wearing headphones and being an ignorant socially inept dick, you're just making your customers feel uncomfortable.

Grow a personality you mong!

I think that you are missing a lot of +EV spots by not talking to people around you. I almost never play live, but when I do, I am amaze at how much information people give that you can use few hands later to get all their money! Smile

Who said these were the fish? Not I. These are the same regs I see day in and day out that have absolutely nothing of value to say... Ever

fwiw, in live poker, irritating people is probably only a good idea against the more egotisitcal ones who will go after you for annoying them. It's fairly easy to enter some dick waving contest with some hot headed kid, but I suppose it'd only really work if one's image is also of a hot headed kid.

It's generally better to just be friendly to people. That way they're likely to play a more passive, friendly game against you.

Some quote I found:

"One thing I have noticed over the years, is that a person who sits down at the table that is happy and engaging, usually wins. They exude positivity and it seems to follow them in the form of "luck". People are more opt to give them action on their big hands it seems. The best tables to play at are the ones where everyone is talking and having a good time. People don't seem to care about calling 8x preflop with any two cards because it is fun. How often do you see a bitter old man losing and hating life? The two seem to go hand in hand. If you aren't happy away from the table, I wouldn't suggest playing because the negativity will eventually crush you at the table. "

just be honest and tell them it's hard for you to talk and play poker at the same time. it also helps to look like you're having a really hard time whenever you're in a pot. of course, some people might start trying to help you because they think you're a newb which doesn't hurt either.
