FULL TILT POKER CONCLUDES TRANSACTION WITH POKERSTARS AND UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Agreement Ends Civil Forfeiture Proceedings and Includes Payment For All Players
Dublin – July 31, 2012 – Full Tilt Poker is very pleased to announce the conclusion of a three-way transaction with PokerStars and the United States Department of Justice which will result in all of FTP’s US players having the opportunity to be paid. The agreement ends the company’s civil forfeiture proceedings with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Under the terms of the agreement, PokerStars will pay a substantial amount of money to the United States, and the government has agreed that all U.S. players will have an opportunity to request that they be compensated out of those funds for their losses. In addition, within ninety days PokerStars will make available for immediate cash withdrawal or play, the account balances for all of Full Tilt Poker’s non-U.S. players.
Full Tilt Poker apologizes to all of its customers who endured a long and difficult period wondering whether this day would ever come.

"One final word about the future U.S. market. Our settlement acknowledges that both PokerStars and Full Tilt are eligible to apply for a license in the U.S. to offer real money poker when states or the federal government offer such an opportunity. We look forward to this opportunity and are confident that we bring tremendous value, regulatory experience, market credibility and financial integrity to the marketplace."

I'll be damned. Looks like no timeline for DOJ payments?
No timeline in the initial announcements, but I'm sure we'll see more information coming out shortly about the process. At the very least we've got a bit of certainty now, which is a huge step up from where everyone's been on this issue. Good news for the poker economy as a whole.

This is great! I hope to see everyone get their $$$ back.
I had the impeccable timing of cashing out all my money just a week or two before BF, but felt I could still empathize with those that had theirs tied up. Empathize no more!!!

This is certainly good news, but I caution any US players who think the DOJ will be able to disseminate payments efficiently. It looks like this is now a when, not an if, though so that's obviously great.

You're just mad that the announcement didn't mention speakers.

Congrats guys. Hope all aspects of this (both payment and legislation) work out sooner rather than later.
And I suppose this is good news for DC's future going forward?

Awesome.
Really curious to see how the DoJ manages reimbursements to US players. I wonder if their process, such as dealing with tax questions, will impact the federal discussion re: legalizing/regulating online poker. I feel like this can only lead toward good things.
