really? How often did you post on 2 plus 2? did you ever use a card there for a purchase from their store or anything? Hope things work out with a reversal of charges.
didn't post too often, maybe had 20 posts. i never used a card on their site, but my 2+2 password was the same as my email password, and from there i think he would have been able to dig through and get my info.
the charges were reversed, just have to wait for a new card to come.

I got this email from gmail:
"greg,
Someone recently tried to use an application to sign in to your Google Account, gregfredsam@gmail.com. We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:
Apr 26, 2012 3:00am GMT
IP Address: 174.120.149.194
Location: United States
If you do not recognize this sign-in attempt, someone else might be trying to access your account. You should sign in to your account and reset your password immediately. Find out how at http://support.google.com/accounts?p=reset_pw
If this was you, and you want to give this application access to your account, complete the troubleshooting steps listed at http://support.google.com/mail?p=client_login
Sincerely,

A long time ago I created an email account that I use just for signing up to web sites. It isn't connected to paypal or anything financial. I don't even use my real name on it. In addition to stronger passwords, this might be another option.

2+2 being down for a few days now is probably a good thing, I would have wasted so much time reading all the speculation on the Poker Stars/Full Tilt thread, becoming none the wiser in the process.

so glad i changed my passwords a few weeks ago for financially linked websites. i just use a simple cypher like those codewheels you get in cereal boxes. if someone wanted to, i'm sure they could crack the logic in a few minutes. i like doing it this way because the password is derivable from the site name itself, so i can never "lose" my passwords, unless i forget the logic that is.
[Edit: and NO please that was not a challenge to crack my passwords!
i love hackers the movie and everything!]
