fuck me, I have to be more cynical
I'm having doubts about this film too. There are some very good arguments for this being a hit piece justifying military expansion under the pretence of humanitarian aid. The cartoon comedy strip someone posted earlier has a lot of merit to it. http://i.imgur.com/K3mgn.jpg
The charlie brooker bit did it for me, smart guy, some weird stuff going on from the looks of it from the clips he shows.
I like some of the points in this thread, there's horrifying stuff going on in places like africa and syria all the time I wish I could do something about but can't but then there is stuff I could get involved with locally in a simple way which I don't (currently). I hope if and when I am comfortable I will get off my bum and do something. I want to emigrate to south america, plenty of causes there...
If you watched that video of Joseph Kony and were shocked to discover that such terrible people live in the world, you need to fire whoever’s homeschooling you. Raising awareness for Joseph Kony is like voting for Obama in 2008. It's the beginning of solving a problem, not the end.
If you just make Joseph Kony famous without capturing him, he will win. Kony will become so famous that he'll probably end up on Dancing With The Stars, getting his cell phone hacked and eventually getting into politics."
