Hey guys!
I was thinking about what I can add to my snackness while playing, atm my snack diet looks like this:
A cup of black tea, with a little bit of milk, and some sweetener.
some fruit like, a banana/orange/able/carrot (I know it's not a fruit) (sometimes one of each in a session, in the three hours sessions that is, not 45 mins
)
And a bottle of water.
I was wondering what you guys snack while playing, maybe I can get some inspiration/knowledge about some healthy stuff, or just a good snack poker wise.
And, do any of you know if the fruit sugar, can cost a crash, like regular sugar?
How fattening is fruit sugar?
Looking forward to your replies.
Thx

But ya sugar is sugar and apparently fructose (the sugar in fruit) has the fastest pharmacological pathways into fat. Instead I'd be looking at high protein/fat options like nuts and the vegetable option is decent.
Since I've gone low carb diet though (paleo I guess) I've pretty much completely eliminated the need for snacks and can go really long hours without food if need be and feel great.

THE BLOOD OF MY ENEMIES.
hahaha, had me laughing, and my kids staring at the computer with a WTF look on their faces.
Really?? that sucks man, cos i'm not exactly super fit as it is, and I don't wanna gain to much weight, cos I've gotten into this bad habit that I have to snack all the time while playing.
Any suggestions on wich fruit fattens less than others?

Yeah nuts and veggies are good. I like walnuts; they are rich in Omega 3s. Almonds are also good 4 you. Raw broccoli (maybe with a little ranch).
As for beverages ... black tea, no sugar no cream. Or some days I'll go with white Russians, with plenty of cream
haha jk

Oh also if you can deal with some cinnamon in your tea that will blunt the insulin response (a good thing in this case) and Tim Ferriss says 1 minute of time under tension (so like, squats) can cause some of the sugars to be stored in muscles rather than fat so doing a minutes worth of squats or pushups just before the session or snack could help.
I'm sure someone like nowhereman will come in here and destroy everything I'm saying, I'm just passing on things I've heard... I AINT NO SCIENTIST, so take that fwiw.

Cow juice has no business going anywhere near tea, so you're doing that wrong for a start. Likewise coffee.
I was bullied into giving up milk in coffee by this guy who was a total badass. He said to me, "just stop putting milk in your coffee and it will be strange for a couple of weeks and after that you'll wonder why on earth you ever put milk in there in the first place".

I've been playing before work. Up at 6am, coffee and four squares of chocolate. Sugar & caffeine = sleepy to instant working brain.
Unrelated but it's really good to get in sessions before work because after an hour or so you have to quit. My game goes off after an hour anyway and I get too lazy to properly hand read and note take. (proabably due to sugar & caffeine)

Livestrong.com says "Among the lower-fructose fruits are pineapples, strawberries, blackberries, lemons, limes, rhubarb, avocado and bananas."
but isn't bananas and avocados straight up fattening? or is it "healthy" fat?
ima definitely try the cinnamon thingy.

to quote beastie boys "I like my sugar with coffee and cream" I can give up cow juice in the tea, but no chance in hell that I can give it up in my coffee.

If I had to log in an one hour session before work, I need to get up at 4.15 am, and there no amount of chocolate nor coffee will do the job
thx guys for your inputs, keep 'em comming

Whilst milk is touted as being low GI, it has a high II rating (insulin index). Combining this with sugar (high GI) wreaks a total shit storm on your body (high II + high GI = not very good). Basically if you wanted to create a substance that made you fat as fast as possible milk + sugar would be a good candidate.

For those (of us) overweight, it wasn't caused by eating fruit. Fruit juice is a different matter, its good to get the fibrous stuff as well imo. The latest version of weight watchers allows fruit for free, including bananas, and I believe they are the most successful weight loss program.
I would question whether you really need to be snacking while grinding. OK so if you are having a three hour session, one banana in the middle would be fine. Personally I would split it into two one and a half hour sessions if at all possible. I'd take a 20-30 minute walk in between, clear my head, have the banana and then get back fresh, fed, and ready to go!

Almonds and water sound like a good place to start, and the fruit/veggie options are also good. Tea/coffee for your caffeine fix is cool too. The big thing would be to not bring a bag of almonds/chips/whatever and just have a little bit sitting by your computer. Since you're going to be focusing on the tables, it'd be really easy to plow through a whole bunch of whatever you're eating if it's not portioned ahead of time. Just like eating a whole bag of chips while watching a football game.
