Hopefully (and you would think really) the DOJ won't come to a settlement with the current owners that doesn't include full repayment to US customers. Can'tt imagine the DOJ will just say "You know all off those US citizens you stole huge amounts of money from? Yeah, just forget about those and don't do it again".
Fingers crossed anyway.

GBT pays the DOJ and the DOJ pays US players. It has nothing to do with the funds FTP still has in the bank or any of that. The deal calls for GBT to fund it. If that happens, then US players are good to go. There will still be the issue of getting the $ to the players so I wouldn't expect anything in the near future, but it's definitely positive news imo.

an agent of ftp called to a friend of mine asking if he will still play on FTP if they give him a bonus with the value he had on his account (7k$) . She said the purpose of that is merely statistical to evaluate the possibilities.
edit: It's irrelevant I know but I would like to know if there's more people which have received that call.

Yeh, I had the call a couple of days ago asking how I wanted to get my money if full tilt reopened .
The caller talked about "if" it reopeened in the next few weeks so thought it was a positive sign.
Fingers crossed everyone gets their money back

I'm confused, are they offering an additional 7k bonus amount, where the bonus is equal to his account balance, or are they transferring his account balance into a bonus amount and he's forced to play and pay rake to clear it and return what was rightfully his to begin with?
I mean if FTP made me play/rake 7k of bonus after holding my money hostage to their banking practices, I'd be extraordinarily pissed. If anything, they should be offering incentives for players to play on FTP after they're image has gone to shit. They've essentially robbed Americans and put a lot of poker players out of work for a year by closing access to their rolls, they owe their players big time if they come back after all of this.

i tend to agree, but remember this isn't FTP the offender, just FTP the face. all the bad people will be gone. if you harbor ill will toward the company, direct it to howard, phil, etc and don't ever support another thing they touch. i'm an american and can't play on the new FTP but i certainly would keep an open mind to it if i could (assuming they pay out prior). they have the best software and have to be more credible than a small, mostly unscrutinized site.

New owners or not, the image of the company has to be restored by the management and forcing players to rake off their existing balances as a "bonus" is a slap in the face becaise it's forcing players to play on their software to recover their money and requires the players to deposit even more money to try and recover the money they had.
Given the terms of the buy out, if FTP does anything but kiss my ass and give me a huge incentive for playing on their site again I'll just clear my money and forget they exist afterwards. It's incredibly disengenious and shady business to put stipulations on funds they straight up stole from players to begin with and if they're just looking to acquire the company and pass the buck by turning what we're owed into a loyalty program they can fuck right off.

sorry, i do agree that anything of that sort would be terrible. anything but providing 100% of balances as liquid cash is inadequate. if the new FTP is going to establish itself, it will need to be a lot more like stars and a lot less like its old namesake.
i guess i just assumed they could only mean that he'd have an account balance bonus in place to provide incentive to play and not cash out. this is quite likely naive though!

Ah maybe I'm reading that wrong and you're right and they're just giving a bonus amount equal to the account balance as an incentive not to withdraw, which makes sense, because the way I interpreted it I can't image anyone would be alright with that from either a legal or consumer stand point.

This is not true. They are purchasing the accumulated assets and liabilities of the company. It is the corporation itself as an entity who is holding these funds and owes the players the cash.
This does not invalidate arguments about various participating partners/execs being held responsible and owing cash to players, as they broke laws and committed or were accessories to fraudulent behaviour by the company.
