Weekend of October 8th, 2011

Will you take a few moments to stand up for poker? These items take just 30 seconds each to complete. Let's focus on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) today:

- Post and like pro-poker comments on Sen. McConnell's Facebook wall HERE. You don't have to like the main (non-poker) post to like or make comments. As a time-saving measure, try using CTRL-F to search for terms like poker and 2366, using highlight all.
- Like the pro-poker posts on Rep. Broun's FB walls (he has two FB pages) HERE and HERE. Then, go HERE and HERE to make and like pro-poker comments on the main walls.

Please reply in this thread with posted, done, sent etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 41 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!

======================

If you wish to do more this weekend:

- Post and like pro-poker comments on Rep. Wolf's Facebook wall post on his anti-poker statement HERE. Please do not accidentally like the main anti-poker post. Also, this is not a defend Grover Norquist action. Rather, it's a defend poker action. Some here will post in support of Norquist and poker, while others will be critical toward Norquist but supportive of poker. Many of us won't mention any of the broader subject matter at all, instead focusing solely on poker. All of these approaches are fine, of course...we simply need to tell Rep. Wolf our opinion of his attacks on our game.
- Let's continue to post and like pro-poker comments on Rep. Mary Bono Mack's (R-CA) Facebook wall HERE and on both of of Rep. Upton's Facebook walls HERE and HERE. There are new pro-poker comments, so let's like them all!

Unfortunately, Sen. McConnell's Facebook page is accessible only to KY residents. I'll post the revised action plan shortly.

Done.
And if you haven't signed the White House poker petition, please do so. Have your friends, family, and neighbors do so as well. Thanks.

Well done all!

I'm planning on reaching out to anti-poker Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) for the Monday action. His FB wall is open to posts, which is better for us.

Anyone wishing to get a head-start can like the FB post HERE, make and like pro-poker posts HERE, and send tweets HERE, HERE, and HERE. Thanks!

Today I decided to ask Joe Rogan for help. Joe has always been incredibly outspoken on his beliefs, even when they are unpopular, so I think if we can convince him to dedicate even 5 minutes on his show to a rant on why folks should be able to play online poker, it will be well worth the few seconds it takes us to like the post and/or post a new comment.

As always, thank you to all who help out with the PPA campaign, please take a few minutes to answer one or more of the calls to action in the PPA post above as well.

Fuck yes. Everyone like this the podcast has sooo many listeners and it would help immensely.

I see the Rogan Page "liked" the post, great! We at least know now that him or one of his staffers has seen it. Maybe this next week we can think of a second, humorous message, and have someone else post it. if you guys have any ideas, just post them here.

Post any other public figures you can think of that are very outspoken too. Smile

Thats great news! I listen to the podcast habitually and on occasion Joe brings up the fact that he isn't able to legally bet on the UFC. This is basically the same concept as online poker, on one of the podcasts Joe goes on a rant about how Americans should be able to spend their money freely even if it is for gambling. I'm sure if someone reminds him of this issue on the podcast he would be glad to mention it, he likes to voice his opinion.

Will you take a few moments to stand up for poker? These items take just 30 seconds total to complete. Click your mouse and lose your House and Senate nannies! We focused on House Democratic leadership yesterday, so let's focus on House GOP leadership today:

- Send a prefilled, editable pro-poker Twitter message to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) HERE, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) HERE, GOP Conference Chair Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) HERE and GOP Policy Committee Chair Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) HERE.

- Wait at least one more hour, then send these Twitter messages to Rep. Cantor HERE, Rep. McCarthy HERE, Rep. Hensarling HERE, and Rep. Price HERE.

Please reply in this thread with tweeted, done, etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 44 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!

I only saw 1 poker comment to Like, but if you guys see any more, post the links here. Smile

Also, has anyone thought of other really outspoken public figures that could help the cause? Maybe I'm just tired, but I'm drawing a blank. My buddy has a weekly podcast with a decent number of subscribers, but he doesn't discuss politics on the show that much (well, not serious ones, anyway). I guess it won't hurt to ask him, though.
