I am on a roll!
I like that it's 36 minutes, having long lectures just makes me zone out too much.
Although one point is - will this be only an 8 parter necessarily or will be be an ongoing project? There is so much you can go through

You mentioned not picking up your phone, but what about when my girlfriend comes and starts to bother me (in a good way, or wanting me to do something etc etc.)?

We live together and she is important but I lost a ton of money because of that

Saibot when do you schedule your workouts?

I sort of found out I like going when I feel like it in various times throughout the day when the mood is right. Is it better to have a set time and set days throughout the week?

Game selection 10
BR Management 9
Tilt control 6
Concentration 5
Hand Reading 4
Goal setting 3

This is how I am practically good at these things, I know all the theory behind goal setting, hand reading and tilt control, but if I am honest with myself this is what I actually do on day to day basis that I directly apply

I don't think there are enough people where I live that would be willing to do this, and my GF wouldn't be too happy (work outside of the flat) and I just love working at home. So most of my poker communication is online and during live pub games.

EDIT: yup, I explained the concept and I was told I don't have to even come back if I go play in an office Grin

Would you actually go as far as to putting teamwork and connecting with others into your goals or as a competency? How would you work on that, simply say X hours/week I will connect with other poker people?

Also, how do you view the groups in Secret HQ that bring people from various together, I often found out that they are chaotic and die out pretty fast and I am trying to change that with this approach:

Where there will be added regularity to the group, I'd appreciate any comments.

It's interesting that you say this. I think a lot of people simply avoid sessions where they get owned, they never play better regs and when they are not in their A game they just quit - I am like that, as well, trying to always dodge uncomfortable spots and immediately -EV situations.

But when I look at everyone I know who either sucked and now plays high stakes or got good fast they have one thing in common - they have egos, their table selection sucks and they never dodged these uncomfortable spots. This lead to them eventually stopping having uncomfortable spots as they learned from them and now when you see them play they enjoy the game so much as they faced their demons and dealt with them.

They obviously had more sessions where they got destroyed than anybody else. Like this Swedish guy posts HHs on the forum and duly notes that the reg he is 4tabling HU was 50BI on him lifetime at one point and he keeps playing him. (he was stuck at SSNL for years and shot up up to 25/50 within 1 year)

Do you think this is the right approach when one's goal is to move up asap and get as good as possible?

Yeah, now you mention it. I think play to learn and not playing regulars is mutually exclusive.
If you don't care about immediate winrate, but about long term winrate and learning shouldn't you be playing the best players and toughest matches possible to learn and improve faster?

I have two examples:

I think from your Realm Hneves182 on Stars has a similar approach (he plays HuSnG)

I love the idea for motivation, I have done this some time before and it is great.

Although I have still the issue of none of these goals were SMART so far, I am really struggling into formulating my goals that way. Even with session reviews and watching videos...they are flexible, sometimes I spend 4hours reviewing 1hr session, sometimes 5 minutes as there were no tough spots, and I watch videos as I identify my needs in session reviews, or for fun when I feel like it and have free time.

Overall it was a great video, I am sorry for spamming questions I hope people won't get angry and you overwhelmed, thanks a lot and I can't wait for the next part

A classic! Maybe explain that you need to focus and prefer not to be interrupted? Maybe proactive and ask her if she needs you for anything the next 1-2 hours.

I turn off phone, skype email.. everything.. while playing.

It is exactly what I do.
I ask her if it is OK to start my session or if she needs something before.
Her playing poker too is helpful.

It will only be an 8 parter. But you are right. There is a lot to possibly go through! Smile

I think it works best for me to schedule my workouts before I start to play poker. IE. I prefer to workout in the morning. In that way I already feel like I have done something productive. Which make me mentally stronger when I start up my session/sessions.
