Ok, first off I apologize if this information has more or less been given by various posters, but I wanted to go ahead and share my experience over the past couple of days.

After licking my wounds and lamenting the "money" I have still sitting on my Stars account, I decided to look for some other options. Ultimately, I decided to go with Carbon Poker as I think Merge is the best option for US players now, and Carbon is the flagship skin for that network. I signed up for an account through an affiliate( affiliate link deleted ) and used the code [del] for a 200% deposit bonus ( which takes an eternity to clear, but hey 35% rakeback is pretty sweet so I won't complain ). I had some email correspondence with support and I will say that they are very quick with responses and also very helpful. Not once did I get some lame boilerplate response that didn't even answer my question.

The trick to playing on Carbon is actually funding your account. They list Visa as an option, but I have two Visa cards that were both declined. UseMyWallet is another option, but you can't just sign up for an account. You need someone to issue you an invite. Fortunately, Carbon Poker support can do exactly that. I used their live support option, and the support person I dealt with was very helpful. I received the email right away, used that to create a QuickTender account ( apparently QT and UMW are interchangeable ), did an instant deposit via my bank account, and had my Carbon Poker account funded within 2 minutes. Very simple process.

As for the actual play on Carbon, I don't have any major complaints with the software. It needs some improvements, but there is nothing that's so bad that I would say it drastically impacts my ability to play. I've been 6-tabling on a laptop with no problems.

With respect to the quality of the players, I can't really speak much on that. I was playing 5/10 and 10/20 6max on Stars before the Dept of Injustice gave us all the finger, and I'm only playing 25NL on Carbon because I just didn't feel comfortable depositing more than $300. My winrate is something like 20bb/100 over 2500 hands, if that means anything.

In terms of withdrawing, from what I've read on 2+2 people don't seem to be having any problems. You'll get the occasional bounced check or delayed withdrawal to your UMW account, but we've been dealing with crap like that for years.

If anyone has any questions, shoot me a PM or just ask them in this thread and I'll try to help out with whatever I can. I just want people to know that there are still options out there that are legitimate, but obviously we're in a play at your own risk environment. I would not deposit money on a site right now unless you are able to lose it without losing a second of sleep. It's not worth it.

How did you get the invite for Use My Wallet so fast? They told me I need three months of activity and also $500 minimum deposit.

I used Carbon Poker's live chat support and spoke with a support rep. I told them I had two Visa cards that were both declined and just asked for a UseMyWallet invite and she sent it right over to me. I got the email right away. If you get a support person who won't do this for you, the best thing I can think of is to keep trying until you get someone who will.

I have similar thoughts about not keeping more than 2-3 hundred dollars online right now, so I cashed out all but 200 that I had on Carbon through check withdrawal and it is still pending. Do you think this is safe or should I cancel it and just let it ride?

I haven't done any withdrawals from Carbon so I can't speak from any personal experience. From what I've been reading on 4, I think your cash out is fine. They are probably a little behind given they're getting a lot of new sign ups and deposits, plus a lot of people withdrawing money because they aren't comfortable having much online. If you go to the Official Carbon Poker thread under Internet Poker, the reps there are very good about answering questions. You could also PM one of them ( CarbonAtil or CarbonChris ) directly and they can probably help you out as well.

A few ?'s

1) Whats the min you can deposit with use my wallet?

2) Can you use a HUD on the site?

3) Are the tables 9 or 10 handed?

4) Does it show the pot total and current pot at the table?

1) Shows $10 when I list my deposit options.

2) Yep, I have HEM working just fine.

3) I play 6max, so I actually didn't look at any of the FR games. I can check when I get home, though.

4) Yes.

How many players are online at any given time, on average?

I've been playing on Cake and I'm seeing between 1500-2500. I'm not much of a tournament player to begin with, but with that size of a player pool tournaments would be pretty small I would think.

I think the highest number I saw last night while playing was a little over 9000. That was around 10 PM EST or so. There are plenty of micro - small stakes ring games going on. I think I saw maybe 3 5/10 games going either last night or the night before. Since I'm only playing 25NL with my tiny bankroll, I had no trouble getting 6 tables going within a minute of logging in.

I haven't bothered to check out the tournaments so I can't help you there. I have seen people complaining about the blinds going up too fast and becoming a shovefest even faster than on Stars and Full Tilt, though.

I was checking out cake as well. The number of 10NL tables for FR is very low and most of the players are very tight. You can't use a HUD on cake as far as I know which is a draw back.

Thanks man
Don't they run a full casino on the site? I'm wondering if they will get shut down to US players because of that.

I've been playing 5-20NL 6-max and I'm not noticing all of the tight grinders that I used to see on FTP. I've been doing pretty well overall.

Tables are 9 handed.

Tourney and SNG action is pretty bad, a vast majority of low stakes SNG's that go are DoN.
