Hey everyone,
I'm thinking of adding a page on the website featuring some of the BI2G members, stating why each chose to join the team. If you could post in here or PM me with a short write-up detailing why you chose to join and what motivates you to give, that would be greatly appreciated!
I just like the idea. It's not really charity. It helps enterprising people in poorer communities carve out opportunities for themselves.
Plus when I saw that this community of professional and amateur gamblers was going into the loansharking business I thought, I gotta get some of that action. We help people, but they have to pay us back or we get to fuck their shit up. I don't mean like too much, but you can't let someone make you a bitch. Once the word gets around that team DC are bitches we lose our territories. One or two baseball bat sized warnings early on nips all that in the bud. Just suggesting.
Feel free to just use the first part...

MY reason for joining:
I am a lucky and happy person to be on the sunny side of life with the chance to generate some good income. I feel it´s my deepest responsibility to share this luck with those on the world that are less privileged. Kiva is another piece in my puzzle to help other people and I like the idea to give some support to others helping themselves.
Could somebody please be so kind to look over my grammar (no native speaker, coming from Germany) and feel free to correct it? Thanks in advance!

Changed one letter. people IN the world... not ON the world. Your English is spot on.

As a poker player, I always wanted to give some back to charity but I did not really know how to do it. Kiva provides not only a great format to achieve my personal wish but also allowed me to become a member of a worldwide team with the same goal. 1 buy-in/month (4 loans) is nothing for me but it definitely can change life of others. Stop hesitating and join our team today !

KIVA offers the possibility to help those less fortunate in the world. We're privilidged to live our lives as we do, play poker as a hobby or as our main source of income. Loaning 1 buy-in a month is not life changing for any of us but it is life changing money to others: so help!

Also changed "those in the world that" to "those in the world who." Minor adjustment that most aren't even aware of, but when dealing with THINGS, you use that, when dealing w/ people, use who.

Thanks to Stanmore and Tecmo!!
I´m actually aware of the difference between "that" and "who" but for some reason I just miss it too often ...
Ah - and hats off again to Tecmo for this. I feel there´s developing something real big and I´m proud to be allowed being part of it.

Two new loans made, both in the Dominican Republic (one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere).
A loan to a small store looking to expand their inventory and services.
Another loan to help a small butcher shop expand after the untimely death of the owner's husband.
Best part is, the first loan was made with with money that was paid back from previous loans. Re-lending, woo!

I've been in Kiva for quite a long time, but now I noticed this topic. I joined the 'buy in 2 giving' team right away and made four new loans:
Kabagambe Bonefansi $25.00
Ra's Group $25.00
Simon Muigai Mbuthia $25.00
Justus $25.00
Let's keep up the good work!
