Welcome!!
New month, new loans! Two this time:
A group loan to small businesspeople in Kenya http://www.kiva.org/lend/340762 where the average yearly income is $400 (a fact I can barely comprehend).
Another loan to a grandmother running a retail business in Mozambique http://www.kiva.org/lend/341882.
where the average yearly income is $400 (a fact I can barely comprehend).
Here in Australia if you're on the Dole, IE Social Security or Unemployment Benefits or Welfare or whatever you call it round the world... anyway being on that in Australia puts you in some insanely high income percentile in the world... it may not be much money, but it's more than what most people in the world get...
Weird.
No wonder we have "dole bludgers" in Australia (sorry for the Aussie terms) (IE some lazy person who has pretty much decided to just stay on unemployment benefits rather than genuinely look for work)
New loan time.
Peter Muiruri Mwihaki, a dude in Kenya. is gonna get some sugar, cooking fat, rice and soap for resale in his shop. Seems solid.
We're at 623 loans so far.
It's funny/awesome that athiests and christians are the top two groups... as though Kiva is one of the many battlegrounds on which ideological superiority can be proven somehow in sheer volume.
At least Kiva and their microfinance entrepreneurs benefit from the squabble. ![]()

Agreed haha.
We are currently at $18,925 loaned. Gonna be epic when we hit $20k!
4 more loans made (2 with repaid money, 2 with my own).
Not sure if I posted this before, but it's awesome. It's a visual display of all the Kiva loans as little dots moving across the world, from where they originate, to where they fund, and back when they're repaid.

Another bump!
2 new loans made in Vietnam and Indonesia.
We've raised $19,150 in under 9 months through Kiva! Incredible!
Let's make a big push in November to break the $20,000 mark.
Yeah new loan time. This time some Peruvian dude to grab some cattle to fatten for selling. Blammo.

Brilliant.
I have some great news. We just surpassed $20,000 loaned! I just want to thank everyone involved in this as it has exceeded my original expectations a great deal. The DC community has come together and done something amazing.

Also, don't forget that Kiva gift cards make great holiday gifts!
