Why would you be so anxious to move through the micros? Shouldn't you just play a limit until your good enough to move up and not when you have enough money to move up?
This. I agree wholeheartedly for someone struggling to beat 10NL.
In this case, though, he had said this was for players who already beat 50NL but lost their roll for whatever reason. The point I've been trying to make is that it's silly to grind up a roll from $20 when you know you can beat 50NL, because your hourly even making minimum wage is higher than your hourly at 2NL will be. I think you're much better off either cutting out an expense (no eating out, no drinking at bars, whatever) for a month to build that roll up more efficiently. Hell, even getting a part time job at Starbucks is going to get you a 50NL roll much much faster than this plan will.

I think if you have a decent edge having a move up with 10 BI for a 2 BI in shot can be a good strategy. As long as you are very disciplined about moving down I think it works fine because you have so many buy ins for the level below.
I also agree that 5 is no way enough

wouldn't it be a better idea to just deposit whatever money you're willing to put into poker and play at a higher limit to start with? Instead of keep depositing when you go busto. I've personally had 5 BI loss within 30min all from getting it in PF so your chance of going busto is really really high with the 5 BI plan.

you haven't lived until you've lost 5 buyins within like 10 hands of each other lol

To the people who propose aggressive strategies, would you be less aggressive when its PLO? I mean, 10 buyins sounds like my normal session, and 2 buyin stoploss will get you through the first 3 flips.
So what to do? 15 buyins - 3bi stoploss?

I know this is a very old thread but what would you recommend a 'good' bankroll would be for 10nl? I am thinking of switching to nl from sng's as I enjoy it more but I am not sure what is a middle ground starting bankroll?
I can put more money in if I want but would prefer not to and learn more as I move up as I haven't reached the dizzying heights of 50nl yet.

On a very small sample size I have. I usually play SNG's but when I have dabbled in cash I have made money every single time. It is a tiny sample size but I think I can put a couple of BI's at risk and see how the transition goes.

something to consider....to me it seems the majority of middle class euro fish have $$$ to spew at 50nl /400nl.... playing under 50nl seems not to be of great value in there minds as they quote on quote "cant win anything worth while" im not saying you are but it is possible you guys are grinding it out the hard way lower down the stakes when you could be boxing clever and mopping up some the free $$$ thats floating around a few limits higher.

playing 2nl/5nl/10 nl for any length of time if you are a proven winner at higher stakes is a massive waste of time. I definitely think that if you are a winner higher and you actually have evidence to back that up, then taking an aggressive 25bi roll approach is probably best. If you don't have a proven track record of beating higher then it's probably a bad idea to take it too fast.
