One big flaw in my game is having no idea what the actual cbet stat represents; sure, I know 80% is high, and 60% is low, but when the flop comes 55Q and the 60% doesn't cbet, what range can I put him on? Is this a bet 100% of the time situation? I also stumbled across a tight guy who cbets 35% over 50 samples; what on earth is he doing?

Would be good if someone can show me what frequencies are betting which boards. If know one actually knows, is there anyway to do this with the new tracker software?

I remember watching a Bluefire video where Galfond and some french coach analize a database of the durrrr challenge vs. jungleman12. Over thousands of hands, durrrr was cbetting less than 30%.

Maybe cuz Jungle is so aggro, Durrrr checking more to induce?

this is why postflop stats are useless for the most part, unless they are very extreme. You need to estimate people's cbetting range and not frequency. Start with estimating their preflop range.

Hud stats can be very useful but you do need to know something about them to gain a benefit.
I would say that there are two major yardsticks to use. (1), your own stat, (2) the average (preferably without your own)
It is easy to get your own version of the stat, but take some care as to where and how long this stat has built up. If you have changed styles it may have altered, and HU is completely different from ring etc.
(2) is harder (at least in HEM1) to get. In Hem1 you can use the 'Players' section and if you set up the filter for Game Type, No. Players, date etc you can get some idea of what they are. Note that your own stats will vastkly outnumber the others and so this will bias a stat like 'mean' toward your own. On some but not all columns you can click on the column name to geta breakdown and in these cases the 'median' might be better as your own bias will not be strong.
For Flop c-bet the breakdown is not given so only the column 'mean' is available at the foot of the column.

You will also have to learn how many examples are needed before the stat is stable, or how wide the confidence should be in terms of player consistency and sample size.

If you are using hud stats it is wise to put some thought into what you should expect from them.

edit: you can also set up the filter to vpip % blocks, so tight, medium loose, etc. and see what the averages are. (if you avoid your own exact vpip point you can get many stats unbiased by your own.ones.) Like most things Hud stats are not a free lunch and you have to put in somw work to be able to use them well. Avoid complicated Hud set ups if you don't know what the stats do mean.

I also now realise I didn't quite answer your original question properly. I am no expert on correct c-betting techniques, if more than one player or coordinated boards in the hand it will be smaller.

That guy who only cbet 35% could be doing it for a number of reasons but you can't tell from that stat alone why he's choosing to cbet or not. How wide are his opening ranges? How aggressively are people raising him? What kind of board textures have you seen him cbet on/not cbet on and has he shown down anything?

The 60% cbettor not cbetting the 55Q board. What were the positions of each player in the hand? Did you see what he had? Was he slowplaying the nuts? Not cbetting JJ? Not cbetting air because he thinks people won't believe him on this texture and will raise a lot?
