This January im going to Canada to spend 11 weeks learning to be a snowboard instructor, I will not have a visa, do i need one to play online poker?

From what i gather listening to pokerroad podcasts on my ipod, Canadians are not taxed on winnings they earn in USA, and therefore my assumption would be that since its not taxable it doesnt need a visa,

Do i need a visa? Don't really know how to get an answer to my question without contacting a lawyer or walking into the Canadian embassy, hoping someone here could help.

Many Thanks

I don't know if I am missing something, or if perhaps you aren't really in tune with how online poker works. You don't NEED a visa to play online poker anywhere, visa's are just the quickest/most convenient way to deposit for most people. Can't you just deposit with an American visa?

He means a visa like what you need to get into another country, not a Visa credit card.

I would check this site out and see if it helps you

I would recommend speaking to somebody at the embassy this kind of question is pretty much their job.

I actually meant a work visa, as a UK citizen i can go to Canada without getting a Visa as long as i dont stay too long, but im unable to work. The site is good PokerWannabe, but my questions is rather specific, guess ill have to go to the embassy.

So you're going from the UK to Canada to train as a snowboarding instructor? How'd you arrange that?

Off topic I know but it sounds like a really cool thing to do

Just play imo? I really doubt there will be tax implications and you're not exactly going to be noticed. Are you really expecting to get a visit from the Canadian tax man with "proof" that you won money while in their country? Sounds like the kinds of thing the american IRS might do at some point but not Canada.

I feel like a retard now, lol.

I honestly wouldn't even bother looking into it. Just play.
