Hey guys I'm currently on a diet, rest of the info is in my blog (shameless plug). In the past when I've tried to lose weight I generally eat fruit as a snack. However, all the acid from apples, grapes, oranges, etc tends to create sores in my mouth after about a week. I'm not a huge vegetable fan, I will eat carrot sticks but was curious if any of you guys know of healthy snacks, basically anything non acidic. Thanks in advance.

I've recently ate some tuna and salad, they made me energetic and alert. There are other foods and supplements you can take as well. Good luck, Yojimgari

Bananas are pretty tame and easy. Also avacados with a little salt and hot sauce...mmmmm. Can't think of much else that's not tangy.

Popcorn isn't a bad one. You can get single serving 100 (or less) calorie bags. Also nuts of different variates, Tail Mix bars, lots of choices...really depends on what your looking for.

Boneless Chicken breasts are probably my favorite healthy snack. If you like chicken I highly recommend having them in your fridge.

Veggies and a healthy dip (low fat ranch, hummus, etc) worked pretty well for me when I was actually eating healthy. Celery isn't the tastiest thing on earth, but it's basically zero calories so you can fill up on it.

I'm down 80 pounds since march. Did it the old fashioned way which unfortunately involved lots of vegetables and tons of exercise. Still workin on it every day, its worth every drop of sweat and all the hard work Smile

Don't go on a diet, atleast, don't go on a diet that means restraining yourself from eating

Try to figure out what your basic needs are, for most men this is 2500kcal, to cut (lose weight), you can go a bit under that, never go less then 500 kcal under your basic needs

Eat 5-6 small meals a day, and have a good mix of all the stuff the body needs. The reason for this is that you want your body to know that it can burn fat, and not store it(=bodyfat) for later.
Your body wants to survive, for when it gets cold and you don't have any food available.
A good guideline is this: Try to eat the food that is closest to nature. Peanutbutter = good, snickers with peanuts in it is bad, it's B-quality food

if you want to snack, take something that has low BAD fat, some people think all fat are the same, they are not

there is a lot of good material available on the internet about the right mixture, i would love to explain it to you but most words I really have no clue what the english words are

Also, try to do sport. If you want to lose weight you should try to gain muscle by doing fitness (8-12x3 sets),
cardio is good too, but you have to hit the right heart rate, running/spinning/crosstrainer and especially row (you know, that thing they do in the water?) are really good

Cutting on food and eating way less then you need puts your body in starvation mode, which means, once you quit that 'diet' your body thinks OHHH WE GET FOOOODDD, SAVE THIS NOW, BECAUSE WE WILL NEED IT IN THE FUTURE, and thats whats called 'jojo effect', not good, and very demotivating

Poker related: Fast diets are short run material. People want results now and thats why those 'diet products/diet philosophys' work so good.
You have to think about the long run, which doesn't sell so great, because it's hard work, or atleast harder work.

But once you got the lifestyle down, it's easy.

Also, don't go for a balance day where you eat junkfood all day long. Go for cheat meals, 1 meal once in a while in your normal diet where you just don't be so strict about it.
Those cheat meals help you, because it gets your metabolism up again

Maybe a lot more then you wanted to hear, i just wanted to give you some food for thought (get it? food for thought)

guacamole?

Just halve them, add said condiments, and grab a spoon!

Guac is awesome too, although that usually involves chips of some kind.

Put some bits into salad for lite lunch and had some fruit.

From my years of wrestling my personal thought is most diets fail because people get really hungry and cheat. I cut this out by eating more often during the day. Little snacks every 2 hours or so. Don't forget to have some Fat with your meals. If you eat bread have some low fat pb on it.

That's because people believe they need to starve themselves when dieting. To eat 2000-3000 calories in healthy food is A LOT of food.

Also fat isn't bad in PB, its the sugar. If you're going to eat PB you need to get All Natural Peanut Butter. Good fats help burn fat.

Some things I snack on besides fruit are Tamari Almonds, half an avocado, protein shake, jerky, hard boiled eggs, turkey or beef patty.

Thanks guys a lot of good stuff here. I'm not starving myself so no worries there. I should probably eat 5-6 smaller meals a day instead of 3 big ones while snacking in between. I've done this a couple times before with good success. Unfortunately, after I lose the weight I tend to stop working out and eating more calories.
