WOT mentioned in Haj School that people who COULD play euro sites would be crazy not too.
So my question for US players is if there was a way for you to play on Euro sites, would you? I have been thinking of a way to do this and I think I could make it work, just not sure if people would take advantage.
Are there currently ways for US players to play Euro sites?
Would you pay for a service that allowed you to bypass the US only restrictions and play international sites?

There are very few European sites that have good software. And sometimes it is harder to tilt control when you're playing against players who do goofy, confusing stuff for no apparent reason. It depends what you're looking for. Some of the games are soft but there is a price to pay. I used to play on Euro sites, but the software and the tilt caused me to move to Full Tilt.

Everything I've heard is that they aren't really any softer. Look at all the Europeans that play on Stars and FTP, why would they do that if the games were really that much harder? Personally I don't think the risk is worth the reward; we've got enough worries just getting our money off of sites "legally".

same reasons ppl don't do the optimal choice in any venue of life.
Every time I have a coaching session with a euro student at hu or 6m nl I'm amazed at the differential in play. Sure a lot of the software sucks and some of the support sucks but it depends on what's important to you.... More money or quick email responses and cartoon avatars.

Yeah I guess I'll have to look into it more if the difference really is that noticeable. Right now I don't normally play higher than 200NL, so I'm able to table select well just on Stars, plus I've already put the time in there to get Supernova. But the game quality seems to get significantly worse quickly once you move up past there, so once I'm ready to do that I'll want to start table selecting across multiple sites.

I think there is a good deal of "grass is greener" thinking going on. Players that I have spoken to that aren't able to play on Euro sites often think they are some kind of nirvana where fish line up to donate in an orderly and timely fashion. This is not the reality. Of course, there is some distinction and I believe the games on Euro sites, if you make sure you look hard enough, are better than those on FTP/Stars. They are certainly looser, though we need to be careful in concluding that looser = easier. Often that is the case, sometimes it is not. This year I have a significantly higher winrate at midstakes Stars than I do at midstakes Euro sites combined. This does not mean that I think Stars is easier because it is not, it is more indicative of the variance I've run into elsewhere and I believe my edge is greater on those Euro sites, however if those Euro sites were as amazing as is often made out that wouldn't matter and the edge would be so great as to overcome any variance.
So, yeah, Euro sites provide more of an edge overall. If you have the option to play on them you should, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't also play on sites for US players and you shouldn't overestimate the edge available.
