Hey DC guys and gals! I plan on hosting a fellow DCer for a weekend next month (or possibly in Oct.) and was wondering if anyone else around the KC area or beyond would be interested in a KC DC meetup! Our dates are not finalized yet as we have a few considerations still, but it would most likely be the weekend of Sept. 26 (a Chief's game is a possibility this weekend!), or Oct. 10.

Our plans currently are to hit the local casinos and definitely hit a few BBQ joints as well. Their may also be some golf in the mix, or whatever else we can think up.

As long as you can get here, you can stay at my place. I have spare rooms and various beds and couches to accommodate a decent sized group. So who's interested in degen KC fun?

jk3a and me and the doctor (friend of ours who has been in a cpl of my hu videos and seems to always get a shout out in the buffalo series) are up for a meet up. If anyone goes to KU or MU and wants to drive over that's cool too.

Also danzasmack is going to be in town visiting me and jk3a at the end of september.

Awesome. We will shoot for the weekend of the 26th then. So far there's 5 or 6 definites (including WoT, jk3a group). If anyone wants to make the trek and needs a place to crash, they can stay at my place. I can also arrange airport pick up.

In the meantime, what's your favorite KC BBQ joint? We could hit up Arthur Bryant's. Or Gate's and Son's.

Recently the show Man vs. Food did a KC BBQ show and ended up at Papa Bob's. Never been there, but it looks interesting:

Apparently Jack Stack is also a good place for the BBQ.

We have a good group so far. But I have room for more if any DCers feel the urge to travel.

arthur bryant's is the best BBQ joint IMO (the original in KC, not the other ones that have sprouted up around Kansas)

whereabouts in KC are we talking about? people say KC but is that the Overland Park Area or literal downtown KC... either way not too much of a difference to me considering I'm driving from lawrence, and as far as any late night festivities: power and light is always fun.

I live in Blue Springs. But I think the casinos are far from everyone, unless you live in the Northland. I'm assuming we're going to be meeting up at Harrah's and as far as the BBQ places go, whatever we decide is best.

I also went to KU. I was just in Lawrence last month for the Lizard under the Skillet bike ride. They also manage to pull in some great bands.

Strouds is a fried chicken place, not BBQ, but it is definitely a KC landmark. And their website says they choke their own chickens!

We can meet up for grub and then hit the casinos on Fri. the 24th and Sat. 25th.

oh I know all to well about Stroud's kitchen lol...place is literally located underneath a highway bridge.

and I'm down for whatever...Harrah's, chiefs game, BBQ followed up by a home poker game...it's all good to me
