For me prof poker is infinitely superior to a 9 to 5 job, but I can imagine this not being the case for all. Perhaps for most having some sort of social network at work is better than being largely alone, but making much more money and having much more freedom?
I recently spent about two WHOLE days on a compsci project; this was surprisingly less stressful than high stakes poker...

Ive recently turned pro and been having to just grind my ass off everyday. Went on a bit of a downswing right when i made the choice and just ran terrible but once everthing came back to normal its been enjoyable. the only difference is that I have to play now it seems instead of just when i felt like it.

Being a pro definitely requires a mindset that WiltOnTilt touched on. Forget hand reading or technical skills....you need that tilt-less mindset where you stay on your A-game wether you swing up or down.
Last week I took a -15bi hit and not once did I tilt, go weak tight or come off my standard game. I remind myself of all that lovely rakeback/bonus and that I was +16bis the week before. You really need to brush off variance as much as possible...I see it as a further test of wether you can cut it as a Poker Pro or not.

Speaking on abilities:
what kind of person & what strenghts does a pokerplayer absoluetly have to have?
Like I reviewed DIHU Ep 2 today where Gman asks DIH at ~64:00 about the K4 hand DIH played at ~40:00 and DIH is like "Flop was QT4 with 2 clubs" without even having to think about it.
I MEAN THIS IS ALMOST HALF AN HOUR AGO.
I'll probably not remember the board I played 5 hands ago, so should I quit poker now???
I've noticed this in other videos by WOT or Krantz also btw

It's suited for some and not others
Is it worth it?
You got to be crazy
Gotta have a real need
Got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
You got to strike when the moment is right without thinking
And after a while, you can work on points for style
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
And it seems to you the thing to do
Would be to isolate the winner
And you believe at heart, that everyone's a killer
And you know it's going to get harder, harder, and harder
And when you lose control
You'll reap the harvest you have sown
So have a good drown, when you go down all alone
Ground down in the end, found dead on the phone
edited for parts relevant to the brutality/reality of depending on poker to survive.
poker goes against my nature. it makes me stressed and brings me down...
but people don't get paid to play fun games like EQ2 ^.^

I heard private dancer by tina turner on the radio tonight, reminded me of poker.
Well the men come in these places
And the men are all the same
You dont look at their faces
And you dont ask their names
You dont think of them as human
You dont think of them at all
You keep your mind on the money
Keeping your eyes on the wall
