This is a great thread.
After going on tilt in the beginning of the year and knocking my bankroll down to 40 bucks, confused and angry, I found DC. In March I got serious, started at 2NL 6Max and I'm about to make the move to 10NL. I've had a coaching session, found a cardroom near my house where I can hone my limit skills and also took my first 1st place in a live NL tournament. Life is good and it's only getting better. DeucesCracked ftw!

Wow. This is great. What was your BR when you leveled up to 400NL, I mean how many BIs?
I had about 12k ( 30 buyins at 400NL ) or so when I decided to swap out a 200NL for a 400NL table. Not long after that, I swapped in another, and then just decided to play all 400NL tables. I guess I never really got the impression that 400NL was all that much tougher than 200NL, so I'm just rolling with it.

To date, went from being breakeven at 50nl to crushing 200nl. I'd like to move higher but unfortunately only a couple 400nl games run on Cake and I'm not quite rolled for 400nl on FT yet.
I rarely ever tilt and am able to put in 6-8 hour sessions if I need to with very little deterioration in my play.
I have also been keeping with my goal of 100k+ hands per month -- averaging 143k/month so far!
If things keep up, by the end of July I will have paid off all three years of law school + living expenses before I even start my first year.
This is just about the greatest feeling in the world.
Outside of poker things are great as well. I think this is key to poker success as well. I have been playing soccer 4 days a week and p90x 6 days a week with my girlfriend and it is extremely motivating. 6pack should be here in another 2 weeks I'd say

That's crazy. How are you working studying into your routine? Or are you? Are you being coached? Congrats on the P90X progress too. That's hardcore.

Thanks man. Not sure if you are talking about poker studying or school studying. Anyway its summer so no school so I'll assume poker...
Usually each day or two I will pick one player to focus on and I will go through every hand I've played against them and get 3-4 page word file on them. Not too time consuming for my schedule. I also watch most of the 6max vids that come out which again is only like ~10-20hrs per month at most usually under 10.
And yes being coached by Phoinix. Usually whenever I hit a downswing of 10BI or more I call him up and he fixes things quickly

Just wanted to resurrect this thread now that we're near the end of the year. How have the past 6 months been? What key lessons have you learned? What would you do differently if you could go back?

I went from being slightly under rolled for $6.5 turbos to being very comfortable at $24 turbos since the end of summer. Hoping to move up to $36 after I get some coaching and around a thousand more games in.
I'm really looking forward to this thread next year

I learned to understand/deal with variance and tilt this year. I also learned that BR management skills and being able to go down are crucial. Interesting thread
hm this i learned too, maybe it has been my most important poker year so far. it's all about the mindset
