sort of on this note, is it more important to book a winning session even if its shorter than your normal session , just to have winning ones??
I won 2 buy ins in 10 hands tonight and stopped.. lol bad? obv it was late and I have to wake up in 5 hours but still

generally this is considered a mistake (why quit when you are at a good table/playing well/running well/whatever?) but if you think you will play badly after booking a quick win, then its fine to quick.
I have stopped playing after a very fast win recently, mostly because I knew I would be less motivated to play my best. So I went outside and played tennis with friends

I wish I had done that yesterday; http://tweakers.net/ext/f/gWbH3J3dO0NYnU35hf3gIwlo/full.png
(Also consider this to be running excellent, 5 BI's below ev and still a solid profit for the day

Hey everyone, I intend for this thread to serve as a bit of a thought experiment. Or maybe an actual experiment. I hope you'll consider participating. To do so, all you need to do is run good, and then post about it in this thread.
A while back my wife observed there are a fair number of threads about downswings, but really no one posts about upswings. Today I'm here to change that. If, as was mentioned in the thread she made, we really post about downswings in part to 'build community,' then this thread should prove just as fruitful to that end, possibly even moreso. And I think it'll likely be more enjoyable and funny.
Also, there might be some other interesting effects. For example, maybe you'll bookmark the thread and read it the next time you run bad and it'll cheer you up. Maybe you'll think about making a post on downswings and realize you don't have to. Maybe it'll be beneficial to have a reminder of a time you ran well, and that will restore your confidence.
Anyway, here's mine...
----------------------------------------------------------------
I just don't even know what to do right now. It seems that every time I hit the tables all I do is win. I've tried playing at different times, varying my lines, trying out new plays, but it doesn't seem to change anything. No matter what I do, the result is the same - winning.
It seems likes every time I have a good hand it just holds up. And I get paid off. Every time I have a draw I get there, but of course every time my opponents have draw they miss. I mean, even when I'm behind but think I'm good I manage to suck out.
It just feels like no matter what I do every decision I make is exactly right. Whenever I decide to bluff they fold. But I always have it when they call. Like, how do they not know every time?
Sometimes I just wonder when it will all stop. I mean, I can't even remember the last time I lost a session. For example, the other day I played a session and made a quit because I thought it wasn't going well. It turned out I was just breaking even.
And I keep playing the most ridiculous hands! The other day I put in a ton of action with an overpair. And of course my opponent had a worse overpair. You know when you flop like top pair on a monotone board and you just know that fourth suited card isn't coming? That's just how every session has been for me.
Hmm.... It sounds like either Joe Tall or Chuck Norris took over PH's account here ;0)
Heaterrr confirrrmed. Purrr!
so sick, after posting in this thread im on a huge heater

Standard. Whenever I complain about a downswing, it somehow always seems to get worse.
In other news, I think Im quitting the game. All the ring tables are just full of fish. Now as of recently all the heads up tables are full of decently bad recreational players. I cannot keep up with all the action I get anymore. When I move in a dog and get called I suck out, but when I'm ahead he never dogs. It's so depressing. 4 years and I'm not improving on the small tables because I can't find good players to play, just fish after fish. I tried every approach. My winnings are big...but the challenge isn't enough to justify playing. I have no question or whatever. I know this thread will probably get deleted. I'm just really depressed the government tried to screw over internet poker to the point where it's all good players with about 1 in 10 players being donks, but they failed.
Now it's just a few really bad players trading games HU. Are the really good players the ones who just dive bomb and win? I can't lose to those kind of maniacs. Raise every button?? That doesn't work the opponent just slowplays you after awhile and it's painfully obvious to you and you get away from your hand. I'm so ****ing depressed to work this hard to be a good player and all of a sudden I realize I'm not that good because all I can find to play are fish. I have no shot. All the hard work down the drain.
All In EV doesn't tell the whole story. There are so many other ways to run good, and they're all too often just an excuse to feel good about yourself.![]()
