I have a Video Program on my website and will look to possibly do videos for DC if there is enough interest.
I have an extremely practical way of looking at the Mental Game and give exercises to help improve focus, eliminate tilt and get you to understand how you function when you are playing in the zone, then get you to implement a pre game routine that helps you place your self in these states on a consistent basis.
As well as many other processes that will help you build a rock solid mental & emotional game, on and off the tables!!!

Look forward to being able to give you guys some more to help you understand your brain and emotional systems!!

Hi Jamie,
New DC videos in this area sound great! But please hurry. My wife is not going to put up with my mood swings much longer. (She can tell immediately now when I am winning and when I am not) :-)

My issues:
1- Playing as a result of procrastinating from Uni work.
2- Short attention span.

Solutions:
1- When I am procrastinating from Uni work, I will tend to not playing my A game as it is still better than doing the work. However I have not come to a complete solution to this as it does not matter how much I procrastinate, I will still get my assignments done at in time. I am trying ti limit the hours I am playing each week (just startedthis), has not gone well thus far. Perhaps I could make a pregame checklist of some sorts.

2- The attention span is a shocker. My fitness could improve (I did run a 1/2 marathon recently but am still unfit), which will obviously help.
But I will at time set my phones alarm to go off every 7-8 minutes, so that when the alarm goes off, I can have a moment to relax then focus again 30seconds later. However this is time consuming, I think I might work on a device that could be for poker players that is based on this concept.

Look forward to your insightshere at DC. I'll be a test subject for a vid Smile. Gutted we lost the Chappel-Hadlee series to you just now, I wanted to goto the decider!

Alright man, I am going to out myself and I am going to be completely honoust about my mental game issues playing poker.

First of all I never tilt, thats what I tell myself, while the times I am playing my a-game are way less then the times that I am not. At times I can't stand how bad everybody is playing at the micros which makes me annoyed because at poker, you can play bad and still win.

I play at times I probably shouldnt. This because I love poker and I want to play it a lot. So even if its in the afternoon with one fish at the table, you will see me there battling with the regs for 1 fish.

In my c-game I don't care about table selection or seat selection. I am going to sit down and play poker.

I play whatever my mindstate is. Tired, who cares. Busy schedule and no room to think about poker, who cares.

Another thing is knowing what i should do but don't do it. I know I should quit after an hour to take a break, still i am playing a 3 hour session trying to get unstuck.

I watched the tommy angelo serie twice, and i still do it.

What else, hmm playing too loose, playing too tight. Trying to bluff everybody off hands, never bluff.

For me its just a constant battle between my a-game and c-game, where, atleast once a week my c-game will get the best of me. I got an awesome c-game.

Ok Guys,
This is a general response to everyone, especially Sneakers,SnappieVouz and jubinator. Thanks for your replies and your honesty, as you are truly only cheating yourself when you take short cuts with your poker, and I know YOU know that.
But, I believe it is not a short cut if you do not know a more professional, successful way to go about these aspects of poker.
Over the past 3 years of working with poker players, I have found specific reasons for all of these negative mental game behaviours that we as poker players, seem to consistently struggle with.
I have been working with elite and professional golfers for 10 years and got into poker coaching after I took up the game and it tilted me like nothing else, so hence, I created a program for poker players.
The few processes I stress for my players to focus on are-
Structure and Schedule.
Goal Setting.
Focus Exercise-To improve the level of your focus as well as emotional control.
Pre'Game Routine.
Post Game Routine.

These are the generic areas I focus on with ALL my players, although everyone's journey on this process is an individual one, I have found focusing on these areas will build a strong mental game.

I find that having structure as well as setting good quality goals, helps players from ever playing sub optimal poker, here I am talking anything less than their B+ Game, every single hand, every single day!!!

The question I ask is this-

What % do you currently play with your A Game and how much approx is that costing you a month/year??

Take your time in answering, as this could be the biggest leak in your entire game and life for some.
Sneakers, you cant have poker effecting your marriage, I know, my wife is a full-time player for the past 2.5 years so I understand, for you its important to create a Post Game routine that will allow you to lower your anxiety after sessions and come back to be a great husband within 15-30min of your session finishing.

Hopefully this helps you begin to create some thoughts on how you can improve the above areas to improve your ROIWink

TRUST ME, ITS WORTH IT!!!

Could u desribe a good pre/post game routine? I was taught by Joe Tall in this area (http://www.deucescracked.com/videos/733-Episode-Four) and I use a simple pre'game routine of stepping out on my balcony and taking ten deep breaths. Thoughts? I don't know what to do after my session. I filled in an excel sheet for a long time with some thoughts after each session, but I stopped doing that. Lol I wonder why, bcause it was good actually.

Anyway what do u think are good routines?

I have been given the GO ahead to place my website here in the thread.

The website is www.dare2dream.com.au

The NEW video program will be ready in approx 2 weeks but it is FREE to join and have access to the forums and articles.

The Pre-Game Routine is a little more complicated as far as deciphering your sub-conscious success strategies. These are psychological, unconscious behaviours that you will experience when playing in the zone.
Once we have deciphered that information, I then create a specific 10-15min routine that begins with my Focus exercise, to help clear your mind and prepare to place yourself in your success strategies that will help you play in the ZONE a hgiher percentage of the time.

sushiglutton, sounds like you need to go back to writing down your thoughts after sessions, if it was having a positive impact on you, get back to itSmile
This is one aspect of human nature I have struggled with over the years, that we create empowering behaviours and then before we know it, they have dissappeared!!
This is one aspect I try and focus on in the program, helping you stay focused on the empowering behaviours and also fine tuning this process everyday.

GL All and look forward to many more questions.

How do you play longer sessions when your winning and playing well?

I've been playing heads up a lot more recently. I can usually quit when I'm playing bad, relaise I'm tilting or hit my stop loss. But for me playing when I'm winning seems to be really difficult for me. I win a few buy ins and just seem to tighten up to the point I'm not paying attention anymore and just quit.

haffy13, I have a H/U player I had been working with for about a year move from playing 2/4 & 3/6 to playing 10/20 & 25/50 in approx 8 months by working through this exact problem.
We had alot of sessions and focused on making sure he increased his ability to focus so he could block out all external factors, especially his HEM.
By the sounds of things, you check your HEM approx every 15min, which is like playing poker with your hands behind your back.
When you are up a nice amount in a session, you get protective and play a totally different game. I want you to focus on playing 1 hand at a time, allowing yourself to check your HEM after every 45min only, over time you will be able to play free from checking your HEM at all.
Your game shouldnt change whether you are up or down, what you need to stay focused on every hand is playing your A game.
Acombfosho, I will check it out and get back to you.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response. I do check my stats a lot, along with how much I'm up or down on certain tables. I would never of thought checking my stats on sessions would effect how well I play while winning. I'll definitely be taking your advice in the future, thanks again.
