Hey Guys
Seeing as we have just seen the release of the second DC podcast.. it got me wondering what podcasts you all subscribe to?
You're free to mention the poker ones, but I feel like are likely pretty well known.
Here are some of my favourite non-poker podcasts (in the order that they appear on my itunes list):
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History
Dan talks about some topic that he thinks is interesting in history. They come out every couple months and are always worth the listen
The History of Rome
Short-ish episodes chronicling the rise and fall of the Romans. Mike Duncan has a dry sense of humour that i enjoy and his information is pretty accessible to listen to.
Jordan, Jesse, GO!
Comedy podcast by Sound of Young America creator Jesse Thorn with his buddy Jordan Morris. They usually have a guest and the show is often laugh out loud funny. One of my favourites every week.
SModcast
Film Director/Writer Kevin Smith and his Producer Scott Mosier's comedy podcast. Not a lot to describe. If you like Smith you'll almost certainly love this.
Stop Podcasting Yourself
Graham Clark and Dave Shumka's comedy podcast. These guys are from Vancouver and have local comics/entertainers on each week and talk about whatever they find hilarious. Standout segment is Overheads in which they recount things they they over hear in everyday life. If you start at the beginning, this segment goes throughout the lifespan of the show, unlike almost all their other segments.
WTF with Marc Maron
Marc Maron's comedy podcast where he asks WHAT THE FUCK? as well as what the fuck? and sometimes just says 'oh what the fuck'. Has many big name guests on. Marc can be overbearing at times and is pretty neurotic, but generally pretty enjoyable to listen to.
I also really like the podcasts from HowStuffWorks the best of which, imo, is Stuff You Should Know
Anyways, I look forward to reading what people like in podcast land.
I have a few new ones that i'm checking out right now that I havent decided on yet

Haha bout time your podcast came out Joe!
I listen to 2p2, Deuce Plays, and Smodcast. I was just looking for some others the other day and found that "Stuff you should know" one, but haven't checked it out yet. Adam Corolla's podcast was pretty entertaining too, but I don't think I have time for it. 2 Jacks in the hole is also entertaining.

i've tried Adam Carolla's podcast... I find him to be a bit racist at times, so it turned me off some of his humour.
Oh yea, he's definitely offensive at times. He's also very "USA is #1 and everyone hates us cuz we're the best." Regardless, he can be funny. I don't listen to it anymore, but it was ok.

Bump for hopefully more podcast suggestions.
@liquid_quik- Thanks for the SModcast suggestion, it is awesome. Now I've got another 100+ episodes to DL.
SMod is pretty great, i wont lie. i enjoy it every week.
Walt and Bryan (two of Kevin's buddies who are on the podcast whenever Kevin is in NJ) just started their own podcast called Tell-Em Steve-Dave!
it only has 2 episodes out, but the first one was entertaining.

Thanks for the Rome podcast liquid_quick, that's ideal for me. How did you go about finding podcasts like these?
at some point i just searched the itunes store for 'history' or something like that and found it.
a couple other history based podcasts that are good are by Lars Brownworth
one is called Norman Centuries and the other is 12 Byzantine Emperors... both quite good. the former is just getting started and the latter is finished (so i forgot about it when i first made my list b/c i deleted it)
another one that i'm finished with that i liked was Astronomy 161 and 162 by Richard Pogge. he just recorded his lectures from his intro Astronomy classes at his university (he's the prof) pretty interesting stuff if you're into astronomy (or want to be). I learned a lot and i didnt have to pay or take any tests =)
and finally, one i'm just getting into (and only has a few episodes) is the Freakenomics Podcast. if you read and liked the books you'll probably liek the show. same sort of ideas.
