villain is 31/13 over 16 hands

Poker Stars $0.50/$1 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players - View hand 1806609
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

SB: $104.75
Hero (BB): $133.31
UTG: $98.68
MP: $239.90
CO: $100.00
BTN: $122.66

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BB with K Diamond A Club
UTG raises to $3, 4 folds, Hero calls $2

Flop: ($6.50) 6 Spade 2 Diamond 8 Club (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $3, Hero calls $3

Turn: ($12.50) 8 Heart (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $5, Hero calls $5

River: ($22.50) T Club (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $9

His betting makes no sense for an overpair. The only hand I could really see him showing up with here is Tx or a bluff. Might be a good spot to bluff catch given the pot odds, but can we ever rep enough sets/overpairs if we x/r the river to win the pot every time instead of just when he's bluffing?

In regards to not 3betting AKo, I don't always like to 3b this hand from the blinds against a UTG open.

given villain isn´t full stacked and unknown he´s more likely to be a fish, so definitely 3bet preflop!!!!

don´t hate calling down as played, because he´s giving you good odds, and you immediately get info on his bet sizing, which has a lot of benefits against weak players. given he seems to be fishy i don´t agree that his betting doesn´t make sense for an overpair, because you never know with these players. anyway i think calling can be fine, because there is a chance that villain might bluff this way, you get good odds and you gain information. not saying it´s a very clear call though.

I do hate bluffraising, because we can´t assume without more information that a weak player will fold anything he´s valuebetting to a raise and you do beat bluffs.

It's dangerous to assume things based on betsizing from unknown recreational players. He could easily have a set or queens (for example) and bet small because he don't want you to fold. Recreational players have a different way of thinking and it's tricky to think they would play their hands the same way as you.

I would 3bet this pre because I think this villain is not thinking about positions and can call you with a lot of weaker hands.

all this is an excellent reply, though i don't rely 100% on betsizing reads until i have more info - i think we can slightly discount those hands, though

Thanks guys, I agree 3betting against this player is good. And also without confirmed reads maybe call is ok, but raising Probably bad against this player type.
