Posting in SH forum since the 6m table just became HU and this is the first hand. Villain is a pretty nitty reg. 19/14/3.0 over a pretty decent sample. 3b 4.1%. My read on him is that he's not the type to follow though on his bluffs very often. I also tend to barrel him a lot because he folds too much in general, but he doesn't seem to really adjust.

Merge Network $1.00/$2.00 No Limit Hold'em - 2 players - View hand 1767451

Hero (BTN/SB): $205.00
BB: $242.00

Pre Flop: ($3.00) Hero is BTN/SB with 9 Spade J Heart
Hero raises to $6.00, BB calls $4

Pre, I would expect him to 3b TT+ here since we are HU, but with his low 3b, he could potentially be flatting with some of his big pairs. I also don't expect him to call really wide.

Flop: ($12.00) 8 Diamond 9 Heart 8 Club (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $8.00, BB calls $8

Standard cbet for value. He might ch/r an 8 some percentage of the time, but I think there's a good chance he will slowplay to let me keep barreling.

Turn: ($28.00) 8 Spade (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $21.00, BB calls $21

Another pretty easy value bet. I expect him to call with most of his PP's and maybe occasionally a stubborn Ax.

River: ($70.00) 4 Diamond (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $52.50, BB raises to $207 all in, Hero?

OTR, I actually considered checking back against this villain because I don't know how much I expect him to call 3 barrels w a hand like 55-66 and it sucks if he ch/r to try and get me off of a chop. The problem is that I don't expect a player like that to make that play with 9x too often. He can have a few combos of overpairs and some 8x, but not that many since he's so tight. What do you think about this river spot?

What do you think you will get called by on the river? It's pretty obvious villain has an 8 here since your perceived range has all the overpairs that makes a better boat than 9x. Trying to get you off a chop is dumb for this exact reason. Villain should not expect you to triple barrel a 9 as well because you don't have over 50% equity vs his calling range.

Yeah, I think this was just a spot where I level myself into thinking I'm playing HU so I need to value bet thinner and people will call down lighter, etc. But it's probably not the case at all, and especially not against this guy.

Good point about the raise. It does seem like he has an 80.

I do think that we have 50 equity against his calling range. I guess it will be mostly pocket pairs most of them below 9s and aces.
